Word of the Day: Expeditious

Word of the Day: Expeditious

What I think it means: In a quick, efficient manner. Going on the word expedite here. However, another thought sprung to mind that’d be fun–if you took the alternate root of the word and took in the direction of expedition, it could be an enterprising/adventuring person. I know that’s not the meaning of the word, but I enjoy seeing where my brain takes me.

What it actually means: Marked or acting with prompt efficiency. I knew this one already, but I think it’s a fun word worth revisiting. This one has gotten plenty of mileage in personal usage as well, though more in formal papers than fiction writing.

I split my time writing and working my day job as a massage therapist. If it’s a creative pursuit though, chances are I’ve dabbled in it. Hell, I’ve played around with soapmaking, beer brewing, cupcake baking, tea blending and everything else under the midday sun. At the end of the day, my constant is always reading, writing and editing. I’m an Aries-Taurus cusp–which to any astrology buffs should tell you plenty. I hit the East Coast convention circuit pretty hard and chances are, you can find me vending for Solstice Brews while simultaneously promoting my books.

      1. One thing I love about English is the ridiculous amounts of words. It’s always interesting to find new words.

      2. I understand! I love learning new words but I rarely use them. I think I have an entire folder on my computer that is nothing but definitions!

      1. A sword and sorcery novel. I’m still in the first draft about about 30K into the story. It is my first project I am writing with Scrivener rather than Word.
