Meet the Writer Wednesday: Lilac James

Writer Wednesday, that time of week to connect readers to the authors penning your favorite stories!

Today let’s welcome Lilac James!

Lilac JamesWhat’s your favorite quote about writing?

“What is written without effort is in general read without pleasure.” (Samuel Johnson) And Lord knows, I’m all about pleasure.

What inspires you to write?

Being able to spend time enjoying all the naughty ideas and luscious men I think up.

Out of all the characters you’ve written, do you have a favorite, or one you feel like you could write about forever? Why?

Hmmm. Well, Bex is a contender, which is only fair since she keeps popping up at different sex clubs. Now that she has her own TV program at KINK-TV, she visits the clubs to see what’s goin’on. And I’ve grown very fond of Sex Ed. But really, a new man is such a treat. How can I resist?

Where would your dream vacation be, and why?

A deserted tropical beach with no dinosaurs or crazed killers/stalkers/kidnappers/terrorists, but with a selection of really, really hot guys—Special Forces, maybe?—to play with. Why? Why not?

Ha, I love that response! What project are you most excited for right now?

The next book, working title The Devil’s a Dom. At the Devil’s Den, Satan and Hecate may be doing things Bex can’t put on TV! (Work in progress)

What’s your favorite TV show on air?

Hmmm. I’m more a doer than a watcher, but…well, True Blood, maybe.

What books are you currently reading? Any recommendations?

In the Zone by Sierra Cartwright; Fool’s Gold by Jennifer Skully. They’re booth pretty darned good writers. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. And if I can find ESPN’s 2015 Body Issue—whooeee!

What’s your astrological sign?

Aries, a fire sign of course. Aries people are adventurous and outgoing. Of course. And dedicated to pursuing the thrill of the moment. Of course!

Us Aries do tend to dive into adventure. What’s your biggest pet peeve when reading a book? A certain type of character? A style of writing? Noticeable plotholes?

Pet peeve? Books about people who are so squeaky-clean, prim, and proper that they don’t have sex. Everyone who’s anyone knows that’s one of the best things in the world. But I also dislike books that have sex without any kind of relationship—one night stand, long-term marriage, I don’t care. I just want the people to have some bond as well as bondage.

Where can readers find you and your books?

I hang out at, and can be reached at

My books are available at, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Google Play, etc.

Lilac James has always been a day dreamer, and the scenarios usually feature really hot men.  She is unusually lucky in having untold numbers of gorgeous men to populate her days, and the world’s most wonderful husband when she’s not at the keyboard thinking up new stories.  No, she doesn’t write while wearing a Vicky’s Secret nightgown and sipping a glass of wine.  She enjoys herself anyway.

She’s tired of being a good girl. He’s the man who can help.

Bessie stepped out of the shower and stood in front of her bathroom mirror, rehearsing her approach to Milady’s Pleasure. “I’ve never seen a naked man before.”
No, that wouldn’t do.
“Show me a penis.” Ugh. She sounded—not even dominatrix-like. More desperate, and she’d do anything to keep her desperation from showing.
“Tonight I want…” Yes. Simple, direct, clear.
Tonight, she’d start.

I split my time writing and working my day job as a massage therapist. If it’s a creative pursuit though, chances are I’ve dabbled in it. Hell, I’ve played around with soapmaking, beer brewing, cupcake baking, tea blending and everything else under the midday sun. At the end of the day, my constant is always reading, writing and editing. I’m an Aries-Taurus cusp–which to any astrology buffs should tell you plenty. I hit the East Coast convention circuit pretty hard and chances are, you can find me vending for Solstice Brews while simultaneously promoting my books.
