Weekly Word Count #117

Word Count: 8,004

What story I’m currently working on: Well, if I’m lucky or determined (I’m usually more determined than lucky, lol) I’ll be finished with Forged Decisions by next week! I’m going to be starting more work on Musketeer Pirates as well since I had a couple new plot ideas, so look for more updates on that to follow! I think I’ve started organizing my plan for the remainder of the year, including more work on The Airship Also Rises and then maybe starting into Tribal Spirits book 3, Forged Contracts!

What I’m editing/marketing: Currently waiting on line edits for Forged Alliances, and then that book will be racing towards release day!! Trucking through some edits on the Of Tinkers and Technomancers book, and once they’re done, I’ll be turning that in! Once I’m finished that, I’ll be working on A Reflection of Ice and trying to rewrite that novella into shape!

Teaser of the week:

Line of the week:

He jammed on the gas pedal and the Challenger shot off down the road, but Finn’s anger didn’t dissipate, and his aggression heated the space between them. Navi would never rob him of that, never try to bury the rage he so rightly deserved to feel, the sort that had lit her up from the inside on too many nights to count.

Navi reached over and placed a hand on his bare thigh. He flinched at first, the touch a shock from the turmoil rocking him. He glanced to her, those hazel eyes softening for a heartbeat, and in that moment, she held more power than she’d ever wielded as a member of the Tribe.

Forged Alliances Cover Reveal!

Guys…I have a pretty!

Sierra Kanoska fought hard for her position as wolf alpha of the Red Rock pack, and intruders in her territory receive the full brunt of what her claws, fangs, and smarts can accomplish. So when Dax Williams, de facto alpha of the Silver Springs pack, pays an unwelcome visit, Sierra’s ready to toss him out. However, the man’s in a tough spot. The pack elders sabotaged his fight for alpha against his brother, driving him from his lands. Sierra hates underhanded moves like that, so she agrees on an alliance.

As they work together, she witnesses an alpha who wants to do right by his pack, not just the cocky wiseass she first met. Their growing attraction blazes hot, but the moment she and Dax lock lips, a mating bond emerges. Sierra sure as hell isn’t ready to share that intimate connection with a stranger, and the thought of forever sends Dax running.

Before they can talk, the Tribe commanding the East Coast shifters arrives to settle the dispute. Dax and his brother’s punishment for their pack’s civil war is a free-for-all on their lands. Not only does he have to defeat his brother, but any challenger in the region. Despite Dax and Sierra’s initial resistance, his wily charm relaxes her control-freak tendencies while her steadfast support bolsters his strength. Yet every new opponent places their newfound relationship under siege—one misstep, one wrong blow in the ring, and Dax could leave in a bodybag.

Hunters are a lonely breed, and Conor’s no exception, until the day he meets Brenna. Even though she slinks in unannounced and kills the wight he was hunting down, the girl’s a mystery and he can’t get that blinding smile or those gorgeous curves off his mind. Since they’re both after the same caster who’s unleashing these monsters, he suggests teaming up, and despite her initial reluctance, the hungry way she scans him down promises something powerful.

What story I’m currently working on: Still moving slower than you’d think given where I am with Forged Decisions, but again, for REASONS! I hit 40k with Forged Decisions, woop woop, so in the upcoming weeks I should be hurtling towards the finish line. I’ll be continuing with Protector of Asgard as well, picking up from where I paused at 9k.

What I’m editing/marketing: With Forged Alliances, I’m now just waiting on line edits! So in the interim, I decided to put a major dent into the Steampunk with a Twist novella…Of Tinkers and Technomancers. And guess what! I finished and sent it in!!! In the interim, I also submitted my Asgard Lounge proposal, the project now titled Protector of Asgard! In case you hadn’t seen the news last week, the Airship Named Desire audio book is now available here!!

Line of the week:

The heat in his voice and the tender way he held her—it was too much. It cracked her wide open, the arctic, remote part of herself that had shut off from ever considering anything like this. The little girl who lost the ability to hope long ago.

What story I’m currently working on: Lol, massive slowdown this week, but due to reasons. I hit 34k on Forged Decisions, which is all sorts of fuck yeah! The story is hitting some bigger scenes, which I’m looking forward to tackling, but I had some super important interruptions. I should be back on track by next week.

What I’m editing/marketing: Well, well, well. My editor and I just pulled out an insane three day editing binge–three weeks of work crammed into that span, but Forged Alliances is ramping up and looking better than ever. My Steampunk with a Twist story is floating along, and I’m down to the last couple passes on it. I decided to start sprucing up an old YA winter fairytale as well, which should be awesome. I also got my critiques back on the first three chapters of my Asgard Lounge story, plus have been tweaking the synopsis and blurb. I will have the proposal package ready to send by next week. On an exciting front, the Airship Named Desire audio book is now available here!! OMG guys, it’s so good.

Teaser of the week:

-As he settled into Park, he winked at her. “Maybe your wolf pups are scared to tangle with a strong woman, but darling, I_d devour you.”

Line of the week:

Finn had tried to gradually fall for Raven over years of affection, touch, and time, but he knew deep in his gut, he’d never brushed the surface of what he should be feeling. However, with Navi, it was no quiet stream or gentle footsteps. He fell for her like the sudden drop of a cliff face, with the fury of the rapids, and with the bone deep awareness that this woman would be branded on his bones for the rest of his life.
