Music Monday- A Love Affair in Las Vegas

Today we’re welcoming Rachell Nichole for Music Monday to celebrate her book A Love Affair in Las Vegas!

Give Your Heart a Break – Demi Lovato

So this is kind of the perfect song for both Dawn and Barnaby. Neither of them goes to Vegas looking for love, yet that’s exactly what they find. For Dawn, she’s terrified to let a man into her life, because she’s always been on her own, and she’s a single mom after a one-night stand in college, so the last thing she thinks she wants is love. For Barnaby, he’s been burned so badly by his past relationship that he is scared to love again, and it’s so hard for him to trust Dawn.

Love So Soft – Kelly Clarkson –

First, I picked this song because I am obsessed with it, and must have listened to it at least a dozen times while I was writing this book. I love the hook and the way this song blends together. It’s also really perfect for this book because it’s all about loving softly and letting someone in, which is what these two are all about. The love scenes in the book are not soft, or gentle, in fact, they have an entire discussion about hard loving. But the emotional lovin’ is really soft.

Pony – Ginuwine

This is the ultimate get-down nasty song, and I love it. Whenever I’m stuck with the heat in the book or I need sexperation (that’s sexy inspiration, for those of you not inside my head), this is the song that I go to. I’d like to think it inspired at least one of the love scenes in this book. It’s just so sultry and deep and I mean, you can’t go wrong with the lyrics of “Just once, if I had the chance, the things that I would do to you…” In fact, there’s a really similar line to that in the book!

Book Blurb:

Dawn Jansen has only ever wanted one thing: to provide a life for her daughter in New York City, away from the small-town minds of her family and her upbringing. She has fought hard to finally make it to manager at the Hauteman hotel, and one of her first duties is to attend a conference at the Marietta Las Vegas to learn all she can about running the show. But when she arrives in Las Vegas, her plans to learn as much as she can on a professional level, turns into learning far more about herself than her job. She may get a second-chance at this whole love thing after all.

Barnaby “Barney” Garrison has always had one goal in life: to help people. He’s found his calling as manager of the Marietta Times Square, and since his past failed relationship, has focused all of his energy on being the best manager he can be. This year, that means helping to run the Marietta Hotels second annual Hoteliers’ Conference in Vegas. But as soon as he notices Dawn in the crowd, his focus instantly splits, his desires for her swift and fierce. When he realizes the attraction is mutual, he doesn’t waste any time seducing her to his bed. But when he suspects she’s hiding something from him, he worries that maybe he’s just destined to attract two-timing women to his life.

Can what began as a fling in Vegas turn into something more once they’re home in New York? Or does what happen in Vegas truly stay in Vegas?

Author:

I split my time writing and working my day job as a massage therapist. If it’s a creative pursuit though, chances are I’ve dabbled in it. Hell, I’ve played around with soapmaking, beer brewing, cupcake baking, tea blending and everything else under the midday sun. At the end of the day, my constant is always reading, writing and editing. I’m an Aries-Taurus cusp–which to any astrology buffs should tell you plenty. I hit the East Coast convention circuit pretty hard and chances are, you can find me vending for Solstice Brews while simultaneously promoting my books.
