The Airship Also Rises is now available in audio book, narrated by Cari Scholtens!

However, Bea finally tracks him down and prepares for one final fight against the man who made their life hell.

He’s got superior numbers and more weapons and wealth than she could dream up, while she’s got a threadbare crew running on grit and dreams alone. The crew of the Desire doesn’t stand a chance. But Bea’s spent a lifetime defying the odds, and she and the crew will risk it all – their livelihood, their ship, and their lives for the chance to fly the skies free once more.

Secrets will unravel, and loyalties will be tested in the smoking conclusion of the Take to the Skies series.

What story I’m currently working on:

I hit 6k on Forged Redemption, slowly getting back to my normal pace. Next month I’ll be back to normal, sledgehammering away at this book, and I’m so excited for it. I’m not going to lie though, I’m a little romanced out, so after this book is done, I’m going to treat myself to starting the paranormal western I’ve been wanting to write. I have the feeling Forged Redemption is going to rip my heart out and stomp on it before I’m done though. A lot. Especially considering I’m three chapters in and already tearing up.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Oh my god guuuuys! Forged Futures is contracted with a release date already! SO AWESOME. Currently I’m waiting to hear back on Hypnotizing Beat, so fingers crossed. I’m most of the way through the initial Scrying for Summer edits and will make quick work of that, so then I can knock out the other two Coven Chronicles ones. And if you haven’t gotten it yet, nab Of Tinkers and Technomancers, which went up for pre-order this week! Oh, also, stay tuned, because The Airship Also Rises will be out in audio book any day now!

Line of the week:

Ally snorted as she leaned back in the uncomfortable seat, her container of lo mein resting on her thighs. “Come on now, you never needed that to be an asshole, Trainwreck.” The old nickname slipped out before she could help herself, one she wished she could swallow back. It dropped into the room like a bomb, flooding the room with tension.

Drew’s eyes flashed the umber of his mountain lion, a honeyed, dangerous gleam rolling through them. He cracked a grin, one that didn’t exactly settle her nerves. “You’re one to talk, Car Crash.”

That simple nickname on those perfect lips and she was sixteen and smitten.

Music Monday- In the Eye of the Wind

Hey guys! Let’s welcome Katherine Wyvern today to celebrate her new release, In the Eye of the Wind! She’s going to share her musical inspiration with us!

  1. Loreena McKennitt- Marco Polo

Rikko’s main theme is without a doubt Loreena McKennit’s Marco Polo. It is an instrumental piece with a mixture of western and oriental flavors, and it has a luscious, amorous sort of swagger to it, and all of this is exactly what Rikko’ is about. A character that left the north of this Europe-like world to move into a far freer, sunnier, more sinful city on the southern shores of the Circled Sea. And he’s obnoxiously sexy, of course!

2. Hedningarna- Tass’on nainen

The darker side of Rikko’s character, heritage of a terrible dark-spell laid on his mother before his birth, has its own score, a tremendously powerful, absorbing piece from Hedningarna’s third album, Trä. The name of the song, which has Finnish lyrics, is Täss’on Nainen. Both lyrics and music are haunting, and they fit well this powerful but dangerous darkness Rikko’ carries from the deep North, and also his destiny as a sea-farer.

3. Master and Commander- The Far Side of the World

Much of the sea-chases and battles in the book were imagined with the accompaniment a favourite movie score of mine, the beautiful music for “Master and Commander-The Far Side of the World”. This immediately put me into a sailing frame of mind, and many pieces of the score have a distinctly war-like feel to them, with lots of drums and fifes. Drums mean business, especially in a world where many ships were oar-powered. And the story is heavily inspired by the Master and Commander books, so…

4. La Femme du President

In the Eye of the Wind has a lot of broad, humorous male banter to it, and it was certainly inspiring (and very funny) to listen to traditional mariner’s songs to get into the mood of it. I have a favourite collection of French and Breton ones, and some of them are obviously composed for comical effect and hilariously smutty, like “La Femme du President”, where a wealthy lady invites a sailor to her boudoir for lunch… the lunch lasts three days and three nights, until the seaman leaves, exhausted, not without throwing an irreverent quip at the lady’s husband while on the way out!

5. https://youtu.be/ebYNnZJXCLc

The last song I like to associate with this story is much sunnier piece called “Celebration” by Secret Garden. It’s Gael’s song. I like how it starts small and gentle, almost secretive, to explode into a triumphant, joyous ending.

What are you working on next?

At the moment I am finishing up my new novel A Muse to Live For, which will be published next month. It’s a book very much about inspiration and it also has a Loreena Mc Kennit song as its main theme…

And here, after one night with Rikko’, all his loyalties are put to the test.

Queen Amata has reigned for three decades, and she always used her men cunningly. But even the best player can miscalculate, and her blunder places Gael first in slavery, then in a naval battle, and finally, worst of all, face to face with Rikko’s darkest and deadliest side.

From such darkness, is there any coming back? Is there any hope of love for Gael, or redemption for Rikko’?

Forged Futures Under Contract

Book four in the Tribal Spirits series is now under contract! Only one more to go (Forged Redemption) and I’m writing away at that one : )

Add Forged Futures on Goodreads!

Joe Ganzorig, Mackey Kendricks’ right hand shaman, has appeared in Ricketts Glen again, and Lucas Diaz is on the job. Except this time, the Landsliders are targeting the recently widowed Lana Bennett. Turns out her husband’s murder hadn’t been accidental—he was involved in the Landsliders and stole an anti-shifter bomb from the big boss himself. The Landsliders want it back, and they won’t stop their attacks until their device is delivered.

Lucas volunteers to keep her safe while they search for the device, needing to protect this wry, stunning woman who’s still standing even after everything she’s weathered. Despite the distance they each try to keep, both Lucas and Lana can’t deny the scorching attraction between them. However, with the constant reminders of Lana’s husband and the Landsliders increasing their threats by the day, these newfound feelings could expire before they ignite. And if the Landsliders find the device before them, none of the shifters will stand a chance at survival.

What story I’m currently working on:

I hit 2k on Forged Redemption, which is picking up speed for me! I’m hoping by next week I’m edging a little closer to my normal stomping pace. I just started Drew’s POV, and it’s going to be as raw and rough as I expected. I’m thrilled to have him as my final hero and Ally as my final leading lady for this series.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Damn, so I knocked out Forged Futures, and will probably have some neeeeews about it soon! What this also means is that the brunt of edits-palooza is over and I get to start writing again! However, there are still some edits on the horizon, as I’m doing some overview edits on Scrying for Summer, Rising for Autumn, and Waking for Winter to turn in to my editor at Soul Mate Publishing. Next on the horizon is Of Tinkers and Technomancers, which goes up for pre-order next week! Oh, also, stay tuned, because The Airship Also Rises will be out in audio book any day now!

Line of the week:

For Drew, devastation had become a familiar sight.

During his time in the Landsliders, he’d seen bombs lit, fields razed, and packs ruined. He’d participated in all of it, even as the bile rose in his throat, even as his mind screamed. His hands were stained in so much blood that he could do good works the rest of his life and never scour all of the taint away.

What story I’m currently working on:

I’m a whopping 1k into Forged Redemption, but the book is probably going to pick up steam next week. Ally and Drew are going to be absolutely ridiculous, and I think they ended up being the perfect couple for the finale of this series, one that’s a little reflective of the first book, Forged Alliances (at least on the bickering front).

What I’m editing/marketing:

I mean, essentially waiting on everything at the moment. Taking Root and Hypnotizing Beat are both on submission, so I’m putting pedal to the metal on my shifter series to get that finished this year! Kicked off this new year with the release of Forged Decisions and then in a couple of months, Forged Contracts will be available! I’m down to the final two passes on Forged Futures, so I’m hoping to get that done before the end of the month so I can return to writing full force. Don’t miss out on both the sale of Forged Alliances at 99 cents though, and the steampunk antho, Bustles and Bells which is coming down in ten days!

Drew didn’t need to tilt his aviators up for her to feel the intensity of that gaze flashing his way. “Williams is what folks called the old man.” He tipped his glasses down on his nose, passing her a scorching look. “I prefer babe, darling, light of my life. Sir, if you’re feeling kinky.”

“You’ll be called dipshit next if you keep at it,” Ally shot back.
