Music Monday- Lust, Sex, and Tattoos

Just another Music Monday…here with some new tunes to spice up your morning!

Today let’s welcome Sheri Velarde who’s here to discuss her book Lust, Sex, and Tattoos!

Lust 12 in cover

Lust, Sex and Tattoos is very much a rock n’roll kind of book, so it is only natural that is have a rock soundtrack. Here are my top 5 favorite songs for this book and its characters Ben and Karen!

Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters. This song is exactly what Karen is going through. She is learning to fly so to speak and finding herself for the first time in a long time.

You’ve Got Another Thing Coming by Judas Priest. Again Karen is finding herself and her own strength and this is a classic song about not taking guff off of anybody!

They’re Coming to Take Me Away by the Butcher Babies. Karen just got out of this phase of her life, where she lost herself and almost went crazy. I have met the ladies in this band and they just kick major butt and their music means that to me, kicking butt and taking names.

The Pretender by the Foo Fighters. (They are my favorite band!) Before Ben Karen was with a pretender. A mean pretender. Nothing more to say.

Back in the Saddle Again by Aerosmith. Let’s just say this is how Karen feels after meeting Ben.

I already have a four more releases to come out over the first three months of this year. I have a short story in the “Snowed In” anthology from Torquere Press. I have a vampire story soon to be released on Three Worlds Press. I have a collection of vampire shorts coming out on Valentine’s Day and a re-release of a shifter story due out in March on Stoker Publishing. Besides those releases I am working on three novels at the moment and lots of shorts in between. I like to be busy and always have more than one project going at a time.

Music Mondays- Play Nice

This Monday, LP Maxa is popping in to discuss her musical inspiration for her rockstar romance, Play Nice!

Play Nice coverSo for Play Nice I had a lot of different songs going through my head. Obviously there were a few Van Morrison songs, because he is Lexi’s favorite. Into the Mystic is one of his popular well known songs, it’s one of my all-time favorites. The other song, He Ain’t Give You None, is a little less known but I just love the raw sound of his voice in it. There is just something about Van Morrison that soothes my soul. He instantly calms me. And I knew I had to pay him some respect in the book.

Into the Mystic — Van Morrison

He Ain’t Give You None – Van Morrison

Right before I decided to start writing The Devil’s Share series, I read Rocks by Joe Perry. I’ve always been an Aerosmith fan, I get it from my dad. So I have to give them a little love as well.

Ragdoll – Aerosmith

The love between Amy and her brother Luke in this book is actually based on real people. My friend Angela has this amazingly talented little brother who is in a band called Dear You. This is my favorite song by them.

Have You Already Forgotten My Name – Dear You

I love the sound of this band, all their songs. It’s almost like, collectively they are an old soul. This music makes my happy.

S.O.B. – Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats

And last…If I could compare The Devil’s Share to any current rock band it would be Rise Against. I love how they can sound really chill and then in the next song really grungy.

Audience of One – Rise Against

My play list is a little all over the place, but that’s how I listen to music. I love it all, and I just have one giant shuffle going on at all times. The old deserves respect and the new deserves a chance. That’s my music philosophy.

lpmaxaPlay Nice has been out for a few months now and I know readers are ready for Smith’s story. Play Dirty, book two, will hopefully be out in a couple of months. It’s completed and is with my editor, so fingers crossed, it will be out before the end of the year. I’m on twitter @LPMaxa and Facebook under L.P. Maxa, and I’ve listed my website as well.
