Music Monday- Three Yuletide Wishes

Just another Music Monday!

Today we’re welcoming Alanna Lucas with her book Three Yuletide Wishes

Yuletide

Listening to music is a great source of inspiration. When a character connects with a particular song, I will listen to that song over and over again. Each time, the character reveals a little more of themselves to me.

A Marchioness for Christmas is my latest release (yeah, none of the music on the list are Christmas songs)- hope you enjoy!

Goodbye Agony by Black Veil Brides

The moment I heard this song, I envisioned Dracon visiting the gravesite of his first wife and unborn child. For ten years he struggled with her untimely death, unable to move forward. But when he heard Antonia play the violin, her music touched a part of his soul that he thought was dead. Dracon realizes he has to let go of the past to have future with Antonia. He says goodbye to his agony.

Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven

Beethoven has always been a source of inspiration for me. I love playing this on the piano when I want to relax- and even taught both my kids to play this piece as well.

This sonata represents the quiet moment when Dracon and Antonia realize their love for each other, but each are too afraid to speak, too afraid to confess their secrets.

You Belong To Me by Dean Martin

Despite all the wasted years, foolish decisions, and misunderstandings between Dracon and Antonia, he is still in love with her and wants to protect her. Deep in his heart, Dracon knows Antonia is his one true love. Antonia makes his world complete. She belongs to him.

The Phoenix by Fall Out Boy

The intro to The Phoenix has a powerful violin sample from Dmitri Shostakovich’s IV. Allegro Non Troppo. My heroine, Antonia plays the violin and was very drawn to this song. Every time I hear it, I imagine Antonia playing the introduction. At first, it was a way for her to release her anger toward her father, but as her journey progressed, she used that passion to express herself. Antonia discovers that she has more in common with Dracon than she first realized.

Immortals by Fall Out Boy

“I try to picture me without you but I can’t” This line sums it all up for Dracon.

What’s your next project on the horizon?

My novella, Stolen Kisses from the Viscount, is part of an eight-author anthology entitled Once Upon a True Love’s Kiss. The collaboration with such a talented group of authors has been an amazing experience. https://www.facebook.com/OnceUponATrueLovesKiss

Meet the Writer Wednesday: Alanna Lucas

Being an author is hard work and there are so many spectacular books waiting to be discovered! That’s why we do this weekly catch up–so readers can get an insight into new authors to check out and discover what inspires them!

author picToday let’s welcome Alanna Lucas!

Previous authors have shed plenty of wisdom regarding the writing process–what’s your favorite quote?

I don’t have just one favorite quote, but one on my list is: “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: Read a lot & Write a lot.” – Stephen King

Where do you draw your writing inspiration?

The characters that live in my head and the desire to tell their story.

Do you have a favorite character you’ve written? One that you feel like you could write forever?

I love all my characters for different reasons, but one of my favorites is Artemisia from When We Dance. She is not your typical heroine and life with her (and her family) is never dull.

At this point of the year, a lot of people’s brains are drifting to vacation time–what’s your dream vacation spot?

I would love to go on an extended Grand Tour of Europe, immersing myself in the various cultures. What better way to research than to experience?

Like most writers, I’m sure you’ve got a project in the wings–what’s coming up for you?

I am working on the last book- Waltzing with the Earl- in the In His Arms series. Anthea Albryght has been a secondary character in two books and it is exciting to be able to finally share her story.

When you’re not writing, what TV show are you tuning into?

Top Gear UK

Any books to recommend? What’s on your reading agenda?

I am currently reading The Earl’s Enticement by Collette Cameron.

What’s your astrological sign?

I’m a Virgo 🙂

Are there any pet peeves when you read a book that turn you off of it?

When the cover and blurb have nothing to do with what’s inside the book.

Where can readers find you and your books?
