Weekly Word Count #173

Word Count: 9508

What story I’m currently working on:

Slow but steady on Hypnotizing Beat! I hit 45k on it, and I’m continuing to make my strides forward. With any luck, I’ll finish it by the end of the month or at least by the end of November. However, since things are a bit slow for me lately and it’s still a slog with Hypnotizing Beat, I’m allowing myself to work on Forged Futures once I get my necessary word count done for the Discord’s Desire book. Because I really want to write Lana and Lucas’s story!

What I’m editing/marketing:

I’m currently diving into the final rounds of edits for The Lies We Weave AND even polishing up the query! Right now, I’m less in editing mode and more in buy-buy, sell-sell mode because Bustles and Bells, the steampunk Christmas anthology I’m a part of, is up for pre-order now, as is Forged Alliances which is set to release November 13th!

Line of the week:

Even with the nerves running up and down his arms and legs like flame, Trevor allowed himself to grin and laugh with his bandmates. It was hard not to with the ridiculous way Ren piped, headbanging up and down to his own music. Or how Kieran fondled that mic like he owed it a favor. Even Jett dove into the fray, sneaking his own brand of misheard lyrics into their song, pickle instead of fickle, or heartbroken as Hoboken.

What story I’m currently working on:

Am I really closing in on the last 10k of this book? It’s been such a wild ride. It also may end up being a little over 60k since stretches of the book took longer than I thought. I’m currently at 47k and I haven’t even gotten into the last stretch of the book yet! Then I’ll need to take a short break from Tribal Spirits to jam out some more words on Hypnotizing Beat. Yet, I’ve got so many ideas for the final two books of the series, eeeeeee.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Legends of the Veil came out last week, and The Airship Also Rises is on pre-order, so August is out to a rip-roaring start! I’ve already submitted An Airship Carol to my editor as well, so now I’ve switched attention back to Musketeer Pirates. It’s moving slowly, but I finally hit the midway point of this baseline edit. There’s still a lot more work to do, once I finish this massive overhaul, but getting through it would put a huge dent into things.

Ava shrugged, slipping onto her feet as she grabbed the tube for the pills and popped them back into it, snapping the lid back in place. “It’s part of the job description. I wouldn’t have taken you on if I couldn’t handle it.” She walked over to him and pressed the pills into his palm. “Paypal me the funds. You’ll get faster service if you pay in advance, FYI.”

Jer grabbed the pills, staring down at the bottle. Ava still stood in front of him, not moving away. Her brows drew together, and she passed him an irritated look.

“Are you waiting for me to perform a dance or something? I need my nap, stat. That’s your cue to take the cute little bike you drive and haul on out of here.”

Jer didn’t hide his grin at that. “You’re sort of standing right in my way.”

Ava opened her mouth and then closed it before she strode back over to her couch. “Right, that would help. Good meeting you, Jeremiah Taylor. If your pack needs a shaman, shoot me a text. I won’t respond to any phone calls.”

What story I’m currently working on:

I’m continuing to rock forward with Forged Contracts, and while I hit 37k as of now, I’m hoping to hit 40k by the end of the week. The goal is to finish the book by the end of August and I’m so very excited. I’ve already started contemplating more on the final two books, so I’m fairly certain they’re going to high on the agenda after. Though, in the interim, I should probably lay down some chapters into Hypnotizing Beat to keep pushing forward. I have the feeling that once I get really going into that series I’ll be firing on all cylinders there too.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Well, first off, Legends of the Veil is LIVE! And The Airship Also Rises is up for pre-order! I’m so excited for it to come out! As far as edits go, I’ve put a massive dent into An Airship Carol, which will be heading to the editor’s by the end of the month. Once I finish that, I’ll push forward on Musketeer Pirates, because I need to continue to put work into that as well. (It’s so hard when I’m wrapped up in writing a new book, because it’s like candy and I love it)

Line of the week:

Raven swallowed. Her heart squeezed so tight she couldn’t breathe. The truth lay brazen in the air, waiting to be grasped and devoured, and even still, she hesitated. The patterns she’d developed over the years were comfortable, the pain as much a part of her as the scars on her skin. Now she stood on the precipice where she might be able to push past that longing that sliced shards in her chest, and she felt crazy for questioning it.

“What are you, part shaman?” Raven joked, even as the truth settled across her skin, that Jer had shared the same longing, the same pain all these years.

Lana’s lips twisted in a knowing smirk. “Worse. Massage therapist.”

What story I’m currently working on:

So, those who wanted more progress on Hypnotizing Beat are going to be disappointed…I’m still at 10k. However, those who wanted progress on An Airship Carol will be happy, because I finished it at 11k!! It took something off of my overloaded plate, but I’m not ready to set into Hypnotizing Beat yet because I need to get an editing project finished–so my target’s been set on Taking Root. Once I get some of these projects cleared off, then I’ll be back in writing mode, and I might add Forged Contracts to the mix too.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Weeeeell, I got some more news for y’all. Not only did book two in my Tribal Spirits series, Forged Decisions, get picked up by Totally Bound Publishing, but Hunting for Spring found a new home at Soul Mate Publishing. PLUS, us Cupid’s Cafe authors just signed a contract with Inkspell Publishing, so our series will be returning to that new home! Also, I’m currently gearing up for Captivating Melody‘s release on June 25th! I made MAJOR progress on the editing front with Taking Root, which I’m super happy about, and I’m keeping with the slow and steadies on Musketeer Pirates. If you’re waiting for Colors of a Soul, my Little Mermaid retelling, pre-order Legends of the Veil!

“Maybe being surrounded by rockstars has me looking for a regular guy.” Liz locked gazes with Kieran, challenge flashing in her eyes. The poor bartender was getting dragged into batt

Line of the week:

Powdery white bullshit drifted down onto my head, settling there the same way it had begun to accumulate across the Desire’s deck. Taking a flamethrower to the approaching blizzard was ill-advised, at least by Isabella and Geoff. I, for one, still held hopes that I could burn that fluffy snow away.

What story I’m currently working on:

June just keeps speeding along! I was down for the count from Friday to about yesterday with a nasty head cold, but I’m getting back in the game. I’m moving at a turtle’s pace on Hypnotizing beat, but I just hit 10k, so that’s a thing.  And I plotted out the entirety of An Airship Carol, not like it’s long, but I’m hurtling ahead at 5k. I’m hoping to be finished it next week, which will take something off my way too overloaded plate. Also, I want to start working on the third Tribal Spirits book, but I have to finish Airship first.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Well now, the news is: Forged Alliances found a home! It got picked up with Totally Bound Publishing, which means the Tribal Spirits series is back on track, with the second book already submitted! I’m so excited to restart that series! On top of that, edits for Captivating Melody came and went, so it sounds like my release date is June 25th! SO SOON. Because I’m apparently insane, on the editing front I’m tackling Musketeer Pirates in a slow and steady fashion, as well as Taking Root!! I swear to god, my plate is so overloaded it doesn’t even know which direction to tip in. If you’re waiting for Colors of a Soul, my Little Mermaid retelling, pre-order Legends of the Veil!

Teaser of the week:

“Hope you enjoy the show then, darling.” Heat flickered in his amber eyes, and his lowered voice made the implication quite clear.

Line of the week:

I took another sip of ale, savoring the sweetness as it coated my tongue. A smile spread to my face. “Isabella dear, I do believe we have a plan of action.”

She followed my gaze, arching a brow once she caught sight of the guy. “Better drink up fast,” Isabella murmured to Jack and Abby. “Your Captain’s about to ruin yet another bar.”

“Ruin’s a harsh word,” I responded, unable to help the sunbeams in my smile. “I prefer ‘inject with liveliness.’”
