What story I’m working on: ….so, the Cupid’s Cafe story is finished. Sometimes things just flow, and this story…well, flew. Which means I’ve got an empty slot for what story to tackle next…I *might* have penned the first lines to the final Airship book, The Airship Also Rises…

What I’m editing/marketing: I’ve still been paring away at Future King edits while waiting on beta-reader responses, but I’m moving forward one baby step at a time. I’ll also probably be plunging into Cupid’s Cafe edits soon, mostly because it’d be nice to get something out the door. Once I get lines in for Waking for Winter, I’ll be entering full fledged work mode on marketing, since the release keeps getting closer and closer!

Line of the week:

“Some days, the sheer amount of enemies we attracted made me question if maybe our crew was a little too trigger happy. That maybe we’d started pissing in too many pots without thinking of the consequences.

But then I remembered that most folks couldn’t hold to a basic code of honor if it killed them. And kill them we did. Repeatedly.”

What story I’m working on: Weeeehell now. I apparently surged ahead a lot quicker than anticipated with Cupid’s Cafe, because I’m now at 25k (with about 15k left to go!) If I can keep up this pace, the goal is to finish the rough draft by the end of May, which *may* (har har) in fact be doable! It’s a really intense story, but since it’s shorter, the plot already unfolded quite clearly and it should be an engaging ride.

What I’m editing/marketing: Oh my lord, I submerged myself in edits for Future King. Got through the content edits from my first beta reader, and now I’m kind of chilling at the moment while I wait on more crits to come in from other beta readers. I’ve got fine tuning edits to do at this point, since I tackled a LOT of content stuff. The story is hella fun though. As for marketing, I’ve begun firing things up for Waking for Winter since it’s less than two months away from release!

Line of the week:

“I think I’m quite capable of deciding what’s safe and not,” Liv argued, her grip tightening so hard around her mug it threatened to shatter. “And just because you’ve got access to someone’s personal details doesn’t mean you should dive right in. Folks deserve to share their secrets on their own accord.”

“Your judgment hasn’t always been sound,” Lex warned, that preachy big-brother tone in his voice. Tessa, who had been backing him up, whipped towards him, indignation written on her face.

Oh hell no.

Fury radiated through Liv in one fierce, sweeping torrent. Fury at what had happened to her back in college, fury at the way how so few treated her as normal the second they found out, and fury, endless fury at the blame that infiltrated even from her closest.

“You’re going to shut the hell up, now, Lex,” she said, her voice simmering at a deadly, even tone. “And you’re never again going to attempt to blame me, your younger sister, for what that monster did to me. If you can’t manage to treat me with the slightest modicum of respect, and if you can’t treat me as anything other than the goddamn victim I’m not, then I have no more use for you in my life.”

What story I’m working on: Hit 11k in my Cupid’s Cafe story and I’m pushing through some really, really dark scenes. This romance is going to be a rough ride, but my lord, Liv’s character is just leaping off the page. She’s so vibrant and clear.

What I’m editing/marketing: Just got the first beta reader response on Future King which is enough of a motivator to throw myself into the deep end a little deeper. When this story is done, my lord, it’s going to shine. Also got the first round of edits done on Waking for Winter, so now I’m just waiting on round two! Plus, An Airship Named Desire AND A Tale of Two Airships are on sale for 99 cents this week only!

The years melted away as they kissed, each clash of their lips like he breathed life into her once more, like her hopes hadn’t shattered on the rocks years ago. Like she was still sixteen and could almost reach that sky full of stars.

What story I’m working on: Guys….I FINISHED Future King and it feels so good!! I even sent it to the first couple beta readers for feedback–I’m hella excited for this story. It’s groundbreaking in so many ways for me. And now that I finished Future King, I’m working on a bitty project, the contemporary romance for the Cupid’s Cafe world! Zane and Liv’s story is promising to be interesting.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Well, now that I finished Future King, I started doing clean up edits on it! Usually I wait to do these, but I wanted to get a head start on some of the adverb and filter word cleanups, and I can always do another sweep through pretty easily. I’ve already started getting feedback in from beta readers too, so I’ll have plenty to occupy me, soon enough!

Line of the week:

This date had started as bland and was speeding right along to abysmal.

Liv sucked in her straw, taking in an extra hefty helping of her black and white milkshake, as if the creamy goodness could block out the absolute drivel coming out of this guy’s mouth. He hadn’t seemed like this much of a twat online, but hey, dating profiles lie, lie, lied.

What story I’m working on: Since my word count from last week was so low, I charged into this week at full speed, hitting 70k. Now that I have nothing on the editing plate and because I’m nearing the end of Future King, I am just throwing all my efforts into this story. It’s either going to be another 5k or 10k (not really sure yet) so I’m anticipating finishing it next week. This story is my heart and soul at the moment, so I’m really hoping to have some luck with it.

What I’m editing/marketing: NOTHING TO EDIT!! Seriously, this rarely happens. Since I pushed so hard with Forged Alliances though, my editing plate is freed up. I’m also waiting for the first edits for Waking for Winter too, so yeah…it’s crazy!

Line of the week:

I’d met criminals with more honor than an entire battalion, I’d tapped into the magic that I’d been told to push down my entire life, and I’d met the sort of man who inspired me to fight those restraints, who helped me achieve more than I ever believed possible.

“I understand now,” I said, my fingertips tracing the glass in front of me as I stared out with her, into the starry sky beyond. “How you could leave Europa and never look back. Why you’d risk everything for this cause.”

What story I’m working on: So, I’m a lying liar of lyingness. I did not make it to my projected 65k in Future King, instead only reaching 59, almost 60k. But guys, I had REASONS. Anyway, progress is plodding along with the story, and if I don’t finish it in April, I’ll be done it for sure in May.

What I’m editing/marketing: The reason I didn’t get far in writing Future King is because I finished editing Forged Alliances. Went on some crazy binge edits sessions since I’m on vaca for the rest of the week and won’t be updating this like normal on Thursday. Instead, you get the abbreviated version, heh.

If my Pendragon ancestor had made this hunt any more complicated, I was about to resurrect him from the grave just to murder him in the most colorful way imaginable.

What story I’m working on: Slowed down a little with Future King due to some plot machinations that needed working out. I hit 57k this week, and I think before I leave for my trip next week, I’ll try to get to 65. Lofty goals–someone oughta hold me to it!  I got to THE scene I wanted to write (honestly, most of my wordage for the week was a 5k binge session, lol) but I’ve also been trying to thread out the remainder of the book. We’re in the final third of it, definitely past the midpoint and heading into endzone territory. Not going to lie, I’m thrilled with the way this story has panned out so far.

What I’m editing/marketing: I’m deep into edits on Forged Alliances. Even if I don’t finish the edits this week, I’ll finish them by the end of April for sure. In other news, I got a release date for Waking for Winter–4th of July! So you’ll be getting lots of fun Christmas in July parallels 😛

Teaser of the week:

Line of the week:

I leaned in, crushing my lips to his.

The response was immediate, incendiary. Merlin gripped the back of my neck, his fingers weaving through my hair as he tugged me towards him. Beyond the metals we worked with, beyond the raw power brewing inside us, the alchemy that roiled inside me when my lips met his was the strongest pull in the system.

What story I’m working on: Slowed down a bunch because of finishing Forged Alliances last week! Still super proud to have that story complete, and now it’s out with beta readers! What that means is my sole focus is back on Future King, which is slugging along at a snail’s pace as I hit 33k this week. I came to a realization on that though, one I want to share. Normally, I rip through contemporary fantasy, urban fantasy and the sort because the locations are so easy for me to describe, the settings natural, and even the monster creation comes readily. However, Future King is science fiction and I need a level of precision and detail with my worldbuilding and language that I can’t convey with my normal racing through a story through the characters. So, I think it’s a good thing for me to work on writing multiple projects currently, since it forces me to take my time with Future King and seriously give this story and its unique world the attention it deserves.

What I’m editing/marketing: I started resubmitting the Iron Legacy, so we’ll see! In other related news, I’ve finally got word on Waking for Winter! The final book in the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles is now under contract! I recently started submitting Captivating Melody to publishers, so fingers crossed, because that series would be glorious.

Line of the week:

“You’ll be searching for a metal you’re connected with—the piece will have the signature of your forefather imprinted in the very make of it,” Merlin murmured in my ear, his breath tickling from his closeness. His alchemy wove through mine, like the circuits and wires of a motherboard, transferring information in a seamless flow.

Everywhere I searched, from copper to nickel, from gold overlay to platinum filigree, nothing jumped out as dangerous or resonated with me in the way Excalibur did. If anything could have convinced me of the truth behind Merlin’s declaration of my history, of what they sought to accomplish, it had been the punch to my gut the moment I boarded that ship. I’d never believed in destiny until I stepped inside the Excalibur and was forced to confront my own.

What story I’m working on: Hit 22k with Future King, and I’m starting to get back into it this week. Hopefully I’ll dive into the fun scenes soon! And the shifter story, Forged Alliances, has reached the midway point! Wooo!! It’s rolling full steam ahead (hopefully serious steam, because tharr be sexytime scenes coming up).

What I’m editing/marketing: Just submitted Waking for Winter to my editor for Loose Id, so fingers crossed!!! Also, Rising for Autumn just came out, so if you want Alanna and Sam’s story, it’s now available! With nothing on the table to market though, I took one of my old projects, Iron Legacy, and started polishing it up again. Looks like another rewrite is looming on the horizon!

Line of the week:

“Look at all the shiny swag they’re toting,” she shouted, loud enough for the bastards to hear. “Didn’t know we were heading to some rich prick’s ball. Do you think you went overkill on accessorizing, laddies?” The second those words left her mouth, a graveyard hush swept through the market, followed by a groan from Lance. She shot him a glare and shrugged. “What? If they wanted to challenge us, they should’ve brought more guys.”

What story I’m working on: Hit 19k with Future King, but I’ll probably pick up steam since I’m coming up to some fun scenes. With the shifter story, I hit 20k, and I’m definitely looking forward to getting into the next scenes–it took a rather dark turn!

What I’m editing/marketing: Polishing up Waking for Winter for you guys! I’m hooooping to submit the novel by the end of the month, but it might end up subbed in January. Regardless, I’m preparing for Rising for Autumn’s release, and already, there are stellar advance reviews rolling in!

Line of the week:

“Stop pacing around like a tap-dancing cockroach. I can feel the reverberations all the way over here,” Tris complained, even though she didn’t look away from the window.

The man’s nose wrinkled with annoyance. “If I’m expected to replenish our stocks down below, I need an accurate count of what finances we’re working with.”

“I’ll make it easy for you,” she replied. “Rummage around in your pockets a little—feel that lint? That’s what we’ve got.”
