What story I’m currently working on:

Well now, I made it to 41k in A Thief’s Crusade. This book is coming out faster than anticipated, and what’s crazy is I’m going to have to go on a week hiatus with it while I’m on my vacation. I’m at that point where it’s all either brilliant or rubbish, which is pretty common once you get past the big middle twist. One of the trickiest things right now is getting the timing right, because I’m not only working on a romance which requires tight pacing, but a heist which requires precise pacing.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Well now, I’m diving into the big edits for Forged Redemption! It’s crazy to think that I should be able to get this turned in to my editor in May. The Tribal Spirits series was a wild ride, and that book means a lot to me. If you haven’t checked out Forged Contracts yet, it’s currently on sale for 99 cents! And while you’re catching up on the Tribal Spirits series, nab Forged Futures which is up for pre-order!!! The pre-orders don’t stop there either…because in May and June respectively, Tales from the Skies and Color of a Soul come out!

“Because I can’t get you out of my goddamn head,” Grif growled, his voice echoing in the chilled air. His blue eyes flashed with a furious amount of emotion, more than he’d ever seen from the placid man. The kind he’d lose his mind trying to chase. “Because the mere thought of a moment with you has me breaking all my rules. Because you’ve got this softness the world hasn’t managed to beat out of you yet, and I’m going insane trying to get it out of my system.”

Grif’s shoulders heaved in exertion as he lapsed to silence. Dan sucked in a sharp breath. He couldn’t look away from him if he tried. Those lips so close to his was scrambling his mind, as was the temptation of crumbling against that firm chest.  Except that was the same way he’d gotten cornered by Brennerman in the first place. Grif goddamn Blackmore. For all his pretty words, he’d still come in like the thief he was, all lies and charm.

“Pretty sure the softness has been beaten out of me now,” he whispered, his voice cracking in the process. Fuck, he drowned in Grif’s intense presence and didn’t want to come up for breath.

Grif reached forward and skimmed his thumb along Dan’s chin, nudging it up until their eyes locked again.

“Bull shit,” he responded, that mesmerizing mouth an inch away. “I can still see it in your eyes.”

What story I’m currently working on:

I’m picking up the pace on A Thief’s Crusade again, right when I’m going to have to break on it in a week or so when we go to Iceland. It’s cool though. There are so many new subplots that I dragged in at this point, that I’m sure this story’s going to startling new directions. I hit 33k this week, which places me ahead of the curve for my monthly goal, which was to hit 30k. I know I’m starting to gel with a book when it starts moving faster and faster 🙂

What I’m editing/marketing:

And, the majority of the beta feedback is in for Forged Redemption, so I’m really churning at those edits, trying to get as much done as possible before my vacation! Thankfully no big macro edits needed–though a lot of micro-edits on the way. While I won’t have the book done by the end of April, I’ll definitely have it finished in May (before the fourth book comes out). So then hopefully before the end of the year, y’all will have a full Tribal Spirits series to enjoy 🙂 Forged Contracts came out last week, but also happens to be on sale for 99 cents! And if you are current, Forged Futures is up for pre-order!!! And the other two pre-orders waiting to hit soon are Tales from the Skies and Color of a Soul!

John and Tuck were on Doncaster patrol. With their enemies scouting the building too, they needed to cut off any attempts before their heist. Two more days.

Which left him with an empty house, an empty bottle, and an empty heart.

His phone buzzed, and he was tempted to ignore it. He’d need to start weaning off the communications with Dan—no cold ghosting, but he couldn’t keep indulging in the flirty texts. Not when each one sliced another cut into his already covered arms. He scanned the wire and pine shelves of their booze rack, but he wasn’t in a quiet enough mood for gin, and vodka just made him meaner.

Fuck it, he’d drink coffee. The idea of going to Butcher’s Block was scrapped, not after he’d ruined that joint by taking his mark there. When had he gotten to be such a careless idiot? This wasn’t how he ran ops. Grif had always worked more like a spider spinning a web, then watching from a noticeable distance as his enemies got themselves tangled up. Yet ever since the botched Nevarra job, he and the Outlaws had been sloppier than ever. Luck hadn’t just abandoned them, it had lobbed them off the cliff.

What story I’m currently working on:

Well, things changed immensely in the span of a week…I’ve got two proposals due by the end of the month, so I finished my 9k one for the Narnia Club, and I’m 2k into the LGBT heist romantic suspense. Unfortunately that also means that Forged Redemption had to take a backseat for a little while, because this has the more pressing deadline. However, I did still make it to 13k with Forged Redemption, so some forward progress on that book! Holy shit though, I launched myself back into writing in an intense way.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Well shit, guys. The news keeps coming. Hypnotizing Beat just got contracted with Evernight Publishing! And editing is finally taking a backseat while I do some writing, though I’m still working through the initial Rising for Autumn ones. If you’re into some steampunk romance, check out Of Tinkers and Technomancers, which comes out March 12th! And if you’re an audio book fan, you can get the entire Take to the Skies series on audio book now that The Airship Also Rises is out!

The city of love was the last place Luciana Martinez wanted to be.

She leaned hard against the side of the cab, staring out the window as the city flickered by, all boutiques with seafoam green overhangs, and the patisserie windows lit in amber light featuring mouthwatering eclairs and pistachio tarts. Throngs of business professionals strolled along the sidewalks in posh scarves, fitted peacoats, and slim suits. She tugged at the worn duffel bag slung over her shoulder, one she should’ve dropped when she entered but had been clinging to like a security blanket the whole ride over.

Sure, it was Callie’s turn to pick their vacation, and sure, they’d geeked about coming to Paris for years, but man, the fucking timing. Her divorce papers weren’t even old enough to crawl.

What story I’m currently working on:

Like I projected, Forged Futures is finished! And it already has an anticipated release date once it’s contracted too. (I’m supposed to turn it in by February) So, since I did all of the writing through November, December is gonna be a heavy editing month. I’ll probably start Forged Redemption in a week or so, but it’s going to be a slow beginning. Aka, you’ll see some pretty low word counts, because I’ve got too many projects to edit.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Well now, both the edits and line edits are done and turned in for Forged Contracts, so that’s something. I’m continuing to plug away at the Hypnotizing Beat edits, and I’m going to probably work on the content edits stuff next week just to knock it out. In November, Forged Alliances came out, and now already, Forged Decisions is available for pre-order! I’d also be remiss to not mention Bustles and Bells since it’s only available for the holidays!

What story I’m currently working on:

I hit 57k with Forged Futures AND completed NaNo for the month. Next on the agenda is completing these final chapters. I should be done the book by next week! Holy hell, I’ve been ripping through the Tribal Spirits series. It’s crazy to think that the next one to write is the final one 🙂 And guys, I have THOUGHTS. They might be a lil twisted. After I finish this book, I’ll probably just launch straight into the final one, at least after a break to edit Hypnotizing Beat.

What I’m editing/marketing:

I finished the edits for Hunting for Spring and turned them in to the editor, so we’ll be really ripping and renovating that series. It’ll be like reading a brand new book. It’s crazy to think how much I’ve grown writing-wise in the span of a couple of years. Also feels crazy that a mere two weeks ago, Forged Alliances came out! Forged Decisions is available for pre-order as well, which is all of the excite. If you’re feeling holly jolly, get Bustles and Bells! It’s a steampunk Christmas anthology sure to put you in the holiday mood!

Both too terrified to ever whisper goodbye.

Weekly Word Count #159

Word Count: 2517

What story I’m currently working on:

I knoooow, my word count is still pretty terrible. I promise next week I’ll do better. Because I finished Taking Root, I was able to pop open Forged Contracts and begin that again! I’m up to 12k in Hypnotizing Beat and 3k for Forged Contracts. I am super excited to get back into these books and start writing again. It’s been so many long stretches of editing that I have been pushing writing off for awhile, so I think I’ve recharged enough to dive back into things.

What I’m editing/marketing:

I finished editing Taking Root and started sending it out! That’s what I spent most of last week doing–finalizing this book! Also, fingers crossed on books 3 and 4 that they get picked up with Soul Mate as I’ve got both on submission! On top of that, you can get both books in the Take to the Skies series for under 5 dollars! Catch the sale while you can! Now that my editing schedule is free, I can dive back into Musketeer Pirates, and I’m also formatting the final Take to the Skies book, The Airship Also Rises. If you’re waiting for Colors of a Soul, my Little Mermaid retelling, pre-order Legends of the Veil!

Line of the week:

“If you keep burning the midnight oil like this, I’m going to dub you the Ghost of Guitarist’s Past,” Ky set to yanking down the window behind the seats. Even though they’d parked in a dump of a lot with a bunch of beater vehicles and sketch neighbors, those desperate neons from the strip still tried their damndest to cut through the early morning grey.

“Who can sleep with the way you and Liz go at it?” Trevor muttered, reaching for one of Ren’s crumpled shirts he left strewn all through the floor of the RV. Trevor tossed it to Kieran. “Do us a favor and cover yourself up. The adoring fans aren’t here to see the show.”

Kieran flashed him a grin, his gold eyes sparking with that new relationship thrill, where everything was sunshine on the Mississippi, and problems were a snap to fix. Not that he could blame his bandmate for the infectious excitement. Kieran had fought hard to win Liz over to the commitment side. Trevor couldn’t imagine that sort of closeness with anyone. The thought of it settled around his throat, the phantom sensation one that lingered through the years.

Ky sniffed the shirt and wrinkled his nose. “Otherworld be damned, did Ren shit on this? You can deal with some skin, brother.”

What story I’m currently working on:

This is always what happens when I find a story I jive with. I actually don’t know when I crammed all these words in, because it was a busy as hell week, but I hit 24k in Taking Root, because something is just flowing with that story. The characters jump off the page and just carry the story away with them. Soon, I’ll be at the halfway point, and I’m hoping things will keep amping up from there so I can race to the finish line of this book! And I tiptoed up to 2k with Hypnotizing Beat, a story I’m starting to wade into again and adoring the return to that snarky, fae-filled universe.

What I’m editing/marketing:

As per the usual, it’s a waiting game. I have a bunch of submissions out for A Card of Shadows, the proposal for Taking Root out, and I also started resubmitting the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles and Forged Alliances in the wake of Loose Id’s closure on Monday. I’m also putting a dent into the edits on the fae novella for Legends of the Veil, since I have an editor booked for June! In other news, the other steampunk boxset Of Tinkers and Technomancers is in, Gaslights and Graves, just went live on TUESDAY!
