What story I’m currently working on:

I’m so looking forward to when I get to write again, lol. Unfortunately I think I have a couple more weeks of solid editing and marketing to do before that happens. Ideally, once January hits I’ll have at least a little more space to make it happen. When I do, the final book in the Tribal Spirits series, Forged Redemption, is first thing on the docket.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Forged Futures is currently out with beta readers, which is rad. I’ll be addressing it the moment I finish with Hypnotizing Beat. And as for that, I’m neck deep in the final rounds of editing, the super time consuming stuff before I send it out to my publisher. On top of that, my week got interrupted with more Hunting for Spring edits, including a semi-final galley for me to review. And then on the editing front, I kick off the new year with a release. Forged Decisions is available for pre-order and will release January 1st! After that, Of Tinkers and Technomancers will be on the agenda, same as Forged Contracts. I also gotta shout out about Bustles and Bells since it’s only available for the holidays!

Line of the week:

Trevor cocked an eyebrow. “You don’t think after we escaped a pack of bloodthirsty redcaps you’re going to be heading off to the hotel by your lonesome?”

Danica bit her lip. His concern burrowed inside her cold, black heart, as if it hadn’t desiccated years ago. “Like your RV’s not crowded enough already? Who knows what travesties that couch of yours has seen.”

“Who said you’d be sleeping on the couch?” he responded, the heat in his voice flushing through her from the inside out. He needed to stop being so attractive. It had become a serious problem.

What story I’m currently working on:

Slowly getting back into the swing of things, but for good reason. Even still, I got some wordage in on Hypnotizing Beat, and I’m thinking I may try to ride this book out to its conclusion rather than sidestepping back to shifter land. As much as I love my shifters, the rockstar fae boys need some love too. Besides, the more I get back into the swing of things with Discord’s Desire, the more I remember the characters and feel of the book.

What I’m editing/marketing:

I leapt way far ahead with The Lies We Weave, finishing my rewrite, as well as the added scenes I needed to write in. I thought it would take forever, but it just took a couple super intense days of work. And I’m not going to lie, I felt iffy about this book before, but now I’m smitten. The dialogue leaps off the page, the characters are interesting, and the story resonates. Here’s to hoping. And as for new releases, you can look forward to Bustles and Bells later in the year, and Forged Alliances will actually go up for pre-order at the end of November!

Teaser of the week:

_Each step forward offered a better view of the crystal walls ahead, the castle appearing like something out of a fairytale._

Line of the week:

The moment she stepped into Kink and Candy, the AC slapped her in the face and she liked it. At once, the sweat started drying like paste across her skin, a fierce reminder to future Danica that a shower was essential tonight. Melrose stalked through the maze of stacked chairs and tables across the floor, heading towards the stage. The woman moved with preternatural grace, but it was anyone’s guess as to why a water nymph would take up residence in the desert. Regardless, Melrose ran a tight ship, and Danica trusted her in the business capacity—which is where she placed everyone.

All except one person.

Lenora hopped off the stage she’d been perched upon and raced over to her, a hurricane in heels.

What story I’m currently working on:

What’s with the pitiful word count, Kat? I know, seriously, I suck. But it’s because I’ve been in editing overdrive mode. I kinda just want to get something off my plate because balancing 4 books (2 writing and 2 editing) is stupid. But I made it to 11k with Hypnotizing Beat and I’m starting to vibe with the book again, so yay. Plus, once I get another project off my plate, I might try writing both Hypnotizing Beat and Forged Contracts at the same time. I really miss my Red Rock Pack ❤

What I’m editing/marketing:

I’ve got more news, guys! Soul Mate just picked up book two in my Coven Chronicles series, so the only books still homeless are 3 and 4. I’m prepping the synopsis for submission as we speak. Also, Captivating Melody is OUT, so grab your copy today! So, if I wasn’t writing this week, what was I doing? Not taking it easy, lol. I have been throwing myself full force into these edits, and I was originally hoping to finish them today, but it looks more like I’ll finish up with them at least by check-in next week. So that will be awesome. I put Musketeer Pirates in the editing backseat at the moment, but it’s still on my docket and I’m still working on it slowly and steadily. If you’re waiting for Colors of a Soul, my Little Mermaid retelling, pre-order Legends of the Veil!

Line of the week:

“If you keep burning the midnight aisle like this, I’m going to dub you the Ghost of Guitarist’s Past,” Ky set to yanking down the window behind the seats. Even though they’d parked in a dump of a lot with a bunch of beater vehicles and sketch neighbors, those desperate neons from the strip still tried their damndest to cut through the early morning grey.

“Who can sleep with the way you and Liz go at it?” Trevor muttered, reaching for one of Ren’s crumpled shirts he left strewn all through the floor of the RV. Trevor tossed it to Kieran. “Do us a favor and cover yourself up. The adoring fans aren’t here to see the show.”

Captivating Melody Release Day!

Captivating-Melody-evernightpublishing-JUNE2018-evernightbanner_preview

God, I’m so thrilled for my first release with Evernight Publishing and the first book in the Discord’s Desire series! Get your copy HERE!

Cross a satyr, a siren, and an incubus with rock and roll, and you get Discord’s Desire, a band of panty-dropping hellions whose live shows incite orgies. As booking manager, Liz O’Brien has the monumental task of keeping the boys in line. She’s resistant to glamour of the fae and fame variety, which only makes her more tempting to lead singer, Kieran Blackmore. With his incubus charms, he could have any girl he wants—except Liz, who’s determined to stay professional.

However, when Kieran’s brother sends hitmen after the band, Liz discovers hunters with her abilities who are mortal enemies of the fae. Mercenaries might attack post-show, but Liz has her Beretta to handle that. What terrifies her more than any monster is how she’s falling for Kieran, which triggers every ‘run-away’ sensor in her foster kid handbook. With war brewing between the hunters and the fae, their love can only end in heartbreak.

“Maybe being surrounded by rockstars has me looking for a regular guy.” Liz locked gazes with Kieran, challenge flashing in her eyes. The poor bartender was getting dragged into batt

To her relief, the lights dimmed even more, and the spotlights circled to the front and center stage, casting a hush through the crowd. A smile curled her lips once Kieran’s sultry voice came over the speakers, the effects dropping like a pheromone bomb onto the audience. A visible ripple didn’t cascade through the air, but once his voice reached a familiar intensity and the rest of the band began playing, a huge scream resounded through the crowd.

Even without the incubus abilities at work, she had to admit, the man possessed a toe-curlingly sexy voice. As she scanned over the crowd, the beginnings of the orgy broke out, where strangers locked lips and deepened their kisses. A pair in front of her started getting handsy, and all of a sudden shirts were coming off. They weren’t even finished the first song, and the scent of sex laced through the room.

Liz let out a sigh. This was why she stayed backstage during the shows. Her glamour-resistance turned her into the one sober person at this lust inspired rager. Her dry spell would have to continue for now since she refused to hook up with the tool next to her and didn’t mainline the swell of sexuality like everyone else. Plus, with Mr. Fae Bartender behind her, she needed to act with extra caution. Bolting from fae sent the same message as a red flag to a bull—pretty please, come chase me.

On stage, Trevor thrummed away at the guitar, his fingers plucking over the strings with the skillful focus he always employed. He leaned up to the mic in front of him to add in the background vocals, the sensual tenor blending with Ky’s baritone. Renn’s hair flew as he thrashed away at the drums, his hands moving lightning fast and his hooves tapping the pedals. Meanwhile Jett romanced the length of his bass, providing the deep undercurrent the siren always did as those notes came out soul-wrenching.

Kieran’s voice reached a crescendo, drawing her attention front and forward. Normally when he sang, his gaze cast far and wide over the audience, as if he were romancing the crowd as a whole, but tonight, his eyes were locked on one person alone. She tried to swallow, but her throat grew dry.

Long strands of his dark hair drifted across his eyes as he clutched the microphone and rocked back and forth with it, the intensity projecting in his voice. He’d tossed his patched leather to the floor, stripped to a black wifebeater that clung to him like a second skin and revealed the intricate phoenix tattoo coiling down his arm. His hips shifted while he moved to the beat of the music, his grey jeans clinging to those powerful thighs. Yet nothing snared her as much as his amber eyes focused straight on her the entire time.

Heat flushed through her at his undivided attention, and while she’d like to blame it on all the bump and grind going on around her, Kieran got her hot and bothered. However, she wasn’t one to sit back and melt. Liz met his eyes and winked with a smirk. She caught the hint of a smile by the crinkle in his eyes as he crooned away.

Curious About Captivating Melody?

“Hope you enjoy the show then, darling.” Heat flickered in his amber eyes, and his lowered voice made the implication quite clear.

I wrote this book two years ago, and since book one is coming out tomorrow, I already started on book two! However, the super secret is that it’s out EARLY! Grab your copy HERE today!

Here’s a sneak peek of the first page:

The stench of sweat, sex, and Chanel Number Five were never going to come out of Liz O’Brien’s jeans. She frowned as her Keds gummed to the floor backstage for the five thousandth time. That was the last gig they’d ever do at Peekaboos.

She peered past the stage out to the main floor of the strip club where a plethora of half- empty TicTac white tables populated the place. The remaining folks embarked on the bump and grind journey that at one tender age might’ve shocked and appalled her, but by now, she rolled her eyes and shut out the moans. Liz winced every time her shoe stuck to the black-and-white tiled floor as she crossed the room. Pink lighting skated throughout the place, even post-show, adding to the seedy ambiance.

She raked a hand through her long chestnut locks, a couple pieces drying to her face from the heat they pumped through this place. Guess since their strippers were shedding clothes, the staff had to keep ‘em comfortable.

Jett stood by the far door, giving her the ‘I’m bored look,’ which she’d come to realize happened about every two point five seconds when he wasn’t onstage or getting laid. After playing the bass for their earlier show, he’d tied back his dark strands, and his light blue eyes had a familiar twinkle in them. Average girls would see a ladykiller who screamed sex from his pores.

Liz noticed the prettier-than-average looks, but she also saw the greenish tint to Jett’s pale skin and the delicate gills along his neck. Since she’d never met her parents, Liz didn’t know the ‘why’ of her ability, but she’d always seen past the fae glamour shielding normal humans from the weird.

Jett lifted his sculpted brow in a cynical arch he’d perfected, jabbing at his watch as if she dragged along at a snail’s pace.

“The bar’s not going to disappear if you’re a couple minutes late,” Liz called out, quickening her pace to close the distance between them.

“Lies. I know for certain there’s an expiration date on the JD with my name on it. Six months on the road with us and you’d think you would catch on.” Jett slung his arm around her shoulder, the familiar weight one she’d never expected from her former one-night stand.

“It’s a miracle I’ve been able to put up with you lot for this long.”

Even though the first time she met Jett they’d fumbled in a back alley together, Liz much preferred him as her tether of sanity and staunch friend on the road. After all, traveling with rockstars was bad enough. The satyr, siren, banshee, and incubus were the real deal when it came to sex gods, with powers that worked on every human except her. She navigated the regular folks to book their gigs, while they made sure she wasn’t fae-bait to any supernatural who noticed her unique skill set.

Together she and Jett stepped out of the steamy room, which had begun to smell a little rank, and made their way down the narrow corridor leading to the front door. Neon pink lit the hallway, nauseatingly similar to the spotlights gleaming onto an opening act Liz would need bleach to remove from her memory banks.

“Good riddance,” Liz muttered as they strode through the doors onto the concrete landing.

What story I’m currently working on:

Well now, I thought I’d have a ton of time before even blinking at Taking Root again, but my beta readers are awesome and gave me critiques yesterday, so I’m real tempted to dive back in. I’m slowly creeping back into Hypnotizing Beat, hitting 8k, so I’m gonna have to really start diving into the universe again! Just recently got updates on Captivating Melody, not only the GORGEOUS cover, but also that it’ll be releasing in July! I also got 1k into the Airship Christmas short due in October. I figured get the small things off my plate quick.

What I’m editing/marketing:

I’ll have some news for you guys by next week, so sit tight! In the interim, I’ve launched full force into a large-scale edit of Musketeer Pirates. I’m going to take my time with this one and really make sure it shines. Hands down, it’s the most intensive fantasy worldbuilding I’ve ever done. If you’re waiting for Colors of a Soul, my Little Mermaid retelling, pre-order Legends of the Veil!

Teaser of the week:

“Rare stories traveled of those who rose too high, the ships who sailed like Icarus towards the sun.And like him, they crashed and burned for their arrogance.”.jpg

Line of the week:

“The two of you seem ready enough to stomp through town,” I called over, announcing myself before the loud slap of my boots did.

Isabella arched a brow. “I prefer a quiet stroll, at best.”

“There’ll be nothing quiet if this one is involved,” Mordecai muttered. For such a short time on our ship, he blended like he’d been here a decade.

“Hey now, all I’m looking for is a peaceful holiday, free from jobs, Morlocks, and captaining. It’s not my fault trouble trails in my tailwinds.”
