What story I’m currently working on:

Hit 57k in Tempting Ballad which is GOOD GOOD GOOD. I’m closing in on the last collection of chapters in the book and that’s amazing. I’ll have to keep on working hard to try and knock it out in a week or two. I’m pretty sure I can do this! It feels good to be closing in on the end of the novel, even though it’s going to take a LOT of extra work to clean this one up, considering I started in June of last year and stopped mid-stride more than a few times.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Currently there’s nothing on the editing docket, since my edits for Of Coppers and Cracksmen are all turned in! Saving Throw and A Thief’s Crusade are currently living that submission life, so I’m just waiting on an update. Once I finish Tempting Ballad, it’ll be interesting to see what I decide to work on next. I honestly don’t know which one I’m going to be diving into, but I want to keep pushing forward with trying to get closer to the end of some of my pre-existing series.

“Smoke break?” Claude asked, tilting his head toward the front door.

Leo pursed his lips and nodded. Yeah, they needed to talk. He pushed up from his seat and followed the slender man to the front door. The moment he stepped into the brisk Boston air, he tugged at his sport coat lapels, as if it’d stand a chance at fielding the cold. The scents of worn stone and decaying leaves traveled his way, reminding him far too much of a cemetery. A shiver ran down his spine.

Which is very well where they could end up if his plans didn’t pan out.

What story I’m currently working on:

I hit 41k in Tempting Ballad, so already in a week I’m picking up speed. I’m hoping to at least reach 70k or finish the book by the end of the month, which I think would be doable. The plot is starting to unfold and I’m finally passing the big midway twist, but I think this book is going to be longer than the last since I’ve got some bridging to do to get the overplot where it needs to be for the next novel.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Saving Throw and A Thief’s Crusade are in limbo and will probably continue to be for the first half of the year since they’re out on varying levels of submission. Once I get homes for those though, it’ll start up two brand new series, so I’m going to spend a lot of this year trying to finish up pre-existing series. (Looking at you, Whitfield Files and Discord’s Desire) I finished edits on Of Coppers and Cracksmen and got offered the contract, so next on the agenda for that series is the final book, Of Alchemists and Arsonists!

Teaser of the week:

“Hope you enjoy the show then, darling.” Heat flickered in his amber eyes, and his lowered voice made the implication quite clear.

“Besides,” Leo cut in, resting a hand on his shoulder. The heavy weight felt grounding in a way Renn wasn’t used to. “I’m simply enjoying a stroll through the marketplace with my lover and my business associate. The warning to the King of the hunter’s attack came from an alternate source. With all the King’s fighters crowded in there and ready to rip heads, I can’t afford to be tied to anything.”

Renn shot him the side-eye. “Like you’d ever be willing to get tied to anything.”

“That’s your kink, not mine, sweetheart,” Leo purred, that gravel voice coursing right through him like pure sex.

What story I’m currently working on:

I’m still way behind on my plans for Tempting Ballad, at only 36k, but I’m planning on making more headway in 2020. I’ve got the clarity to develop a little bit more of the plan/plot, and I’m really looking forward to taking another step forward in this series, considering there will be only one book left after that.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Saving Throw and A Thief’s Crusade are still both out on submission, but considering I sent those out in Dec, I probably won’t start getting responses until February or March. Either way, I’m really hoping to find homes for both of those new serieses. On the positive, I also finished up Of Coppers and Cracksmen and sent it off to the publisher, so one of the next books on my agenda will be the final one in the Whitfield Files trilogy, Of Alchemists and Arsonists.

Renn caught his gaze and tilted his head slightly in the direction of Natalia. A slight grin played on the satyr’s lips. As always, the man possessed hidden depths.

“Found another orphan looking for adoption, Batman,” Renn commented, amusement brimming in his tone.

What story I’m currently working on:

Oh damn, I am WAY behind! Like an entire month of missed word count updates! So, funny enough, from a month ago, I’ve only gotten 2k ahead in Tempting Ballad–to 32k, because I completely switched gears. Not only did I finish out Of Coppers and Cracksmen for NaNoWriMo at 40k, but I also wrote and submitted a 4500 word short story to Totally Bound which will be a free read, a short sexy scene from Tribal Spirits. Life has clearly been insane, but I’m still trucking! Next week onward, I’m going to get back on track with Tempting Ballad.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Well, Dungeons and Dating not only has a title, Saving Throw, but it’s also out on submission to a bunch of places. I also began the onslaught of submissions for A Thief’s Crusade, so fingers crossed. It’s been a bit since I’ve gone through the submission mill, which is always an excruciating experience. I’m done with releases this year, but the only two I have on the books for next year are Rising for Autumn and Waking for Winter. However, on the positive, I’ve got Of Coppers and Cracksmen most of the way finished and will get that submitted before the year’s end!

Even if Leo had fast grown far more attached than he’d ever given himself permission to. Renn Cantrell wasn’t just a pretty face with a talent for drums and a lithe body made for sex. The man’s dedication struck a chord in him, how he’d defy his flesh and blood and sacrifice so much to keep searching for his sister, even after all these years. After all, he’d done and would continue to do the same for those precious few he truly loved.

What story I’m currently working on:

I wrote way too much last week, so this week you get NOTHING. Seriously though, it’s all about balance. To write that much in a week means I’ve got to push other things to the back burner, and the next book on my agenda is getting back to Tempting Ballad. I’d say I’m excited to get back to it, but I’ve got a LOT to figure out. I’m going to try to set some groundwork before next week when NaNo starts.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Well, I sent out my Dungeons and Dating book to beta readers, and then I also did a round of line edits on it to smooth things out before I do contents and then go line by line to add depth/eliminate cliches. Color of a Soul should be out in audio book any day now, which is exciting. I’ve got Hallowread this weekend, so I’ll be selling books there, which means bustling around for last minute scraps to put at my table. If you missed the news, Scrying for Summer is up for pre-order! And coming out the day before that is Captured Memories, the third book in the Cupid’s Cafe series!

“Are you coming back to the RV?” Liz asked. She cast a glance to the door. “We’re currently parked in a lot up the street for convenience.” Renn’s shoulders tensed again, almost imperceptible, but after spending some time in close quarters with him, those slight signals were becoming all the easier to read.

“Or, alternately, you could enjoy some privacy,” Kincaid stepped in. “I’m sure a few rooms have opened up by now. I’ll book them if you say the word.” Waking up with Renn in his bed this morning had offered a brush of relief when he needed it the most. There was something to be said about waking up with another person beside you, something about the proximity that made the world feel a little less lonely. And he’d been feeling lonely for a long time.

“Oh fuck yes,” Danica breathed. “Sorry, guys, but I’d like some time where I don’t have to try and keep quiet because Liz and Kieran are bunked right above us.”

Liz shrugged. “If you’re paying, I wouldn’t say no to some alone time.”

What story I’m currently working on:

Well, this was one of the best damn writing weeks I’ve probably had all year. That’s a superhuman word count, possible only because I REALLY wanted to write the sexy bits. Because of that, I fucking FINISHED the first book in my Dungeons and Dating series at 70k. Holy jeez, what a roller coaster. That book was such a fun one to write and made me really miss San Francisco. I loved that city a lot when we visited in 2013.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Apart from reviewing the audio files for Color of a Soul, I did little else in terms of editing my own junk, mostly because I was rocking through Dungeons and Dating. However, Color of a Soul IS heading to retail, so I’ll be announcing that any day now. Also, Scrying for Summer is up for pre-order! The other book on pre-order that’s coming out a day earlier is Captured Memories. If somehow you missed out on my bold and beautiful Tribal Spirits series, check out Forged Alliances, the first book in the series, for only 99 cents! (and the rest of the series on Kindle Unlimited for a LIMITED time only!)

Roxie levelled a look at her. “I’ll pick the mushrooms off, dumbass. And I’m perfectly capable of pointing out your mud prints—though realistically, you’ll never be as much of a mess as Bel.”

“Dumbass?” Mel said, clutching her chest even as her eyes crinkled with how hard she grinned. “Look at these beautiful names my girlfriend calls me.”

What story I’m currently working on:

Aaaaand the words keep flowing. I’m keeping decent pace, since I just reached 47k on the first book in the Dungeons and Dating series. I’m definitely teetering closer to the finish line, but there’s still quite a bit left to write. We’ll see. If I’m really feeling the scenes, I may finish the book next week, but that’s dependent on how long certain things take to write out, etc. I’d like this book to be 65-70k, but my romances tend to end up around 60k, so I’m not sure how the chips will fall.

What I’m editing/marketing:

I’ve slowed down on the edits for Outlier Heir, because I’m also reviewing the audio files for Color of a Soul this week. Hopefully that will be coming out over the next few weeks! Yay new audio book! I also just got the ARC for Scrying for Summer in, which means that it’ll be up for pre-order on Amazon any day now! The other book on pre-order that’s coming out a day earlier is Captured Memories. If somehow you missed out on my bold and beautiful Tribal Spirits series, check out Forged Alliances, the first book in the series, for only 99 cents!

Lilah and Rose sat with Tabby at the opposite end of the bar. Roxie strode in their direction. A woman at the bar was giving her the eye, furtive glances followed by a delicate sip from whatever pink drink she was nursing. Roxie bobbed her head in a nod as she passed by, not wanting to be rude. She wasn’t in the mood for a random hookup or one-night stand though.

She wanted something real.

She wanted Mel Roberts.
