Weekly Word Count #144

Word Count: 5500

What story I’m currently working on:

I’m back to a normal pace! Which means I’ll probably be able to finish this fae story by next week! After hitting the wall for so long with the other concept, this one is a cork popped free and I’m just flowing with it. I love paranormal romance, and this is a sweet, breezy one in a similar vein to By the Sea. I’m now at 9k on this story, and while the minimum for the anthology is 15k, I’m thinking I’ll probably end up at 20k. This is the fae story for the Legends of the Veil anthology that is coming out in August!

What I’m editing/marketing: Well, shit. A Reflection of Ice is coming out on March 27th, and it’s already available for pre-order! I’m going to make a ballsy promise with the Airship edits, that I’ll be finished them by the time I report in next week and have them sent to the editor. I’m close though. In the final 20 pages for the vibrancy edits I do, and a couple chapters in already for the grammatical and read aloud edits. If you’re looking for more fun, Gaslights and Graves is available for pre-order! And it’s sales galore this week, with both A Tale of Two Airships and Snatched available for only 99 cents!

Teaser of the week:

The ice castle awaits those lonely enough to find it...

Line of the week:

She reminded him of the lake itself or a waterfall come to life, the way the liveliness just poured out of her, how it sparkled in the sun.

Lovely Authors and a Release Day Party

Help me celebrate my release day by joining me and a bunch of the most kickass authors for this Facebook party!

The lineup includes:

Sawney Hatton

Sawney Hatton is an author, editor, and screenwriter. Other incarnations of Sawney have produced corporate videos, attended Scottish Highland games, and played the banjo and sousaphone (not at the same time). He laughs at death, which has made for some very awkward funeral services.

Check out his novel Dead Size!

Sheri Velarde

I am a creative type who not only writes, but also paints and makes jewelry. I am most at home when creating. In my spare time I love to listen to live music, read, and just hang out with my fiancé and our two dogs.

Check out her novel, Quest for Redemption!

Jessica Cale

Jessica Cale is a historical romance author and journalist based in North Carolina. Originally from Minnesota, she lived in Wales for several years where she earned a BA in History and an MFA in Creative Writing while climbing castles and photographing mines for history magazines. She kidnapped (“married”) her very own British prince (close enough) and is enjoying her happily ever after with him in a place where no one understands his accent. You can visit her at

Check out her novel Tyburn, first of the Southwark Saga series!

Olivia Night

Olivia Night, a fictional character herself, has always been an avid reader and writer. She found the romance genre in college and has never been able to get enough. One sleepless night, the main characters of Book One in her Seduction series sprang from her head fully formed. They demanded she tell their story; so she did. As they revealed themselves, so did two other intriguing characters. Those characters convinced her to give them their own books because their stories were worth telling too. And so Olivia suddenly became a romance author. When Olivia is not writing, she has the best job in the world, which, too, will remain a secret. In her free time, she reads, write, runs, or is, most likely, out emulating Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Olivia lives in one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the U.S.—Baltimore. She lives with her cat, which she is convinced was a gladiator in his past life. Olivia plans to continue being awesome at this thing called life. Really, that’s her only goal.

Shelli Rosewarne

Shelli Rosewarne had always had a dream in the back of her head about wanting to be a writer, from the time she was handing in ten page stories at primary school and driving her teachers crazy. However, like with so many things, life and paying the bills got in the way and she worked in various jobs from call centers to shops to offices. She eventually realized that life is too short not to try and follow your dreams, and has since had her first stand alone novella published with Breathless Press, along with several submissions in anthologies, another novel contracted for later in the year and various works in progress in the pipeline. Yup, she’s having to pinch herself as well!
She currently lives in Edinburgh with her long-suffering fiancé and slightly psycho cat. When not writing she loves reading, music and photography.

Check out her novel, Love Reawakened!

Caroline Bradley

Still waters run very deep…

Caroline Bradley runs in the Philadelphia suburbs with her two teenage sons and a very boisterous cat named Mickey (who doesn’t run). And she’s never ever telling who inspired her fantasies…

Check out her novel, Indulge my Fantasy

Terra James

I am 34 year old mother of two beautiful children with special needs, so I am an advocate for autism. I have loved to read, write, and blog/journal since I was 10 years old. I live in the beautiful mountains of TN. I love it here, but I would also love to live near a beach. I love reading, and I will read just about anything. I just recently started blogging, and I love it as well.

Check out her novel, Chaotic Evolution: Inception!

Landra Graf

Landra Graf consumes at least one book a day, and has always been a sucker for stories where true love conquers all. She believes in the power of the written word, and the joy such words can bring. In between spending time with her family and having book adventures, she writes romance with the goal of giving everyone, fictional or not, their own happily ever after.

Check out her novel, Raven, Pirate, Assassin, Spy!

Current State of the Author

Now that I’m in the thick of things with NaNoWriMo (and at 28k, I might add), I’ve got a LOT on my plate. Which I love of course, but I wouldn’t want to leave anyone confused as to what’s on the horizon. Or myself for that matter, because my brain’s on the fritz with all the rapid fire ideas bouncing around.

Currently submitting:

A Reflection of Ice: my dark fantasy novella that definitely gave me the creeps while writing it.

Currently prepping for re-release:

An Airship Named Desire: waiting on the new cover and finalizing the edits. Should be out before the year end.

Currently in edits with a publisher:

Hunting for Spring: Finalizing the content edits and will be moving onto the line ones soon! Can’t wait for this story to release : ) Super sexy urban fantasy story set in Philly!

Currently in edits with me:

The Tuatha De Danaan story: Yeah, I still haven’t come up with a title. My goal is to be finished the edits by the end of December, so I can start subbing it next year. I lerve this story so hard, and I’ve gotten a lot of love of the tough and gushing variety from by betas.

The Tale of Two Airships: This one’s going to simmer for awhile and I’m going to launch into the edits beginning of next year. I like to only be writing one story and editing one story at a time. Means I can devote proper attention to them.

Currently writing:

Night Awakens: Dark, dark, paranormal romance. While I’m used to writing snarky and bossy females, I have to admit, I tend to write them more like me, where they’re aggressive and macho in their flirting attempts. This girl knows what she wants sexually though and goes for it, even though the emotional end of things is all haywire. Dealing with a character who’s born in a race of mostly sociopaths, and she’s the odd ball out.

Anything sound exciting to you? If you want more details, I’d be happy to share snippets of all my new projects in the pipeline. As soon as any concrete dates are announced, they’ll be posted here, as well as my facebook page: Katherine McIntyre.
