What story I’m currently working on:

Slow but steady on Hypnotizing Beat! I hit 45k on it, and I’m continuing to make my strides forward. With any luck, I’ll finish it by the end of the month or at least by the end of November. However, since things are a bit slow for me lately and it’s still a slog with Hypnotizing Beat, I’m allowing myself to work on Forged Futures once I get my necessary word count done for the Discord’s Desire book. Because I really want to write Lana and Lucas’s story!

What I’m editing/marketing:

I’m currently diving into the final rounds of edits for The Lies We Weave AND even polishing up the query! Right now, I’m less in editing mode and more in buy-buy, sell-sell mode because Bustles and Bells, the steampunk Christmas anthology I’m a part of, is up for pre-order now, as is Forged Alliances which is set to release November 13th!

Teaser of the week:

“They shot one of ours.” The lines deepened around his grey eyes. “I_d waste the whole army for spilling a drop of my crew_s blood.”(1)

Line of the week:

Even with the nerves running up and down his arms and legs like flame, Trevor allowed himself to grin and laugh with his bandmates. It was hard not to with the ridiculous way Ren piped, headbanging up and down to his own music. Or how Kieran fondled that mic like he owed it a favor. Even Jett dove into the fray, sneaking his own brand of misheard lyrics into their song, pickle instead of fickle, or heartbroken as Hoboken.

What story I’m currently working on:

I’m continuing to make my baby steps forward with Hypnotizing Beat! It’s moving so much more slowly than my Tribal Spirits books, but at the same point, I’m still putting progress into the book, and it’s getting easier as I go. I’m at 36k, so I’m hoping to reach 60k by the end of the month. If I really find my groove, I might be lucky enough to finish the book before November!

What I’m editing/marketing:

I’m editing The Lies We Weave right now, which is going smoother than I thought! However, I keep diving down more worldbuilding rabbit holes which have been super fun. On the positive, Bustles and Bells, the steampunk Christmas anthology I’m a part of, will be coming out for pre-order and sale this month! AND, Forged Alliances is already on pre-order, set to release November 13th!

Teaser of the week:

“Because if I fell any deeper for the way his eyes crinkled with his smile or his habit of tapping on his nose to emphasize a point, my ship would be sunk.”

Currently listening to:

Line of the week:

Those long fingertips, the ones she’d had dirty daydreams about, brushed along her chin. Danica looked up at him. Trevor didn’t say anything, but his gaze glowed with a hearthfire understanding that scorched right through her. His breathing had evened, and his hand no longer trembled. Danica’s chest felt hollowed, as if someone had clawed at her insides and scooped them out. They should be looking around for an escape, a distraction, anything. However, she could as much tear herself from Trevor’s gaze as she could escape a hurricane.

Throwback Thursday: A Reflection of Ice

Lyra plunges into the woods for refuge, leaving the discovery of her stepmother’s affair and the woman’s ensuing rage back at the trailer park. However, a mysterious ringing in the forest leads her to a different sort of sanctuary, a castle of ice with a lonely prince living in his solitary kingdom.

While the castle holds haunting ballrooms, vast gardens, and rooms filled with more treasures than a museum, the cobwebs in dark corners whisper a different story. The longer she stays, the more she yearns to return to her rusty old home. Yet once she uncovers the secret of the ice prince in his castle, if she doesn’t find a way to escape soon, she never will.

What story I’m currently working on: Welp, I did it! I finished the YA fantasy novel before the end of October. This story was incredibly fun, and though I have a lot of work to do in regards to editing in the proper worldbuilding and ironing out some major inconsistencies, I think I’ve got the foundation for something amazing. So now I’m letting my brain rest for a couple days before I start into The Airship Also Rises come November 1st!

What I’m editing/marketing: Captured Memories is still getting rave reviews from the release last week, which is nice to see!! So with that out of the way, I can start the baby steps of prep (marketing images and such) for Of Tinkers and Technomancers and A Reflection of Ice! I’ve pretty much neglected edits on Forged Decisions because of the massive amounts of writing I was doing, but now I’ll be giving those content edits a look-see and trying to get the story ship shape. It doesn’t need drastic things thankfully, just pruning and fine tuning.

Teaser of the week:

_Each step forward offered a better view of the crystal walls ahead, the castle appearing like something out of a fairytale._

Line of the Week:

The sensible thing would be to run. Ditch the pirates, the guards, and sail away on a stolen boat to Damascar. A week ago, she would’ve done that without hesitation.

However, Katerina’s hope had infected her, Fiona’s drive inspired, and Lorne’s presence reminded her of what was worth fighting for. Salima clenched her jaw before nodding in response.

“Two of us against a horde of guards?” she cracked. “Couldn’t ask for better odds.”

He grinned back at her, lifted his pistol in the direction of all the chaos, and pulled the trigger. “Then let’s tango.”

What story I’m currently working on: Continuing on the YA fantasy novel, since I’m trying to complete my goal of finishing it by the end of October. Which means I’m setting a really aggressive pace of close to 2,000 words a day, with some exceptions. On the plus, I rocketed ahead to 51k, so I’m definitely making strides. I’ve passed the halfway point of the novel, where shit is really starting to reach a crescendo. I think it’s going to be the action-y stuff coming up soon, which should be intense.

What I’m editing/marketing: Forged Alliances came out three weeks ago and already I’m gunning ahead on the next one. Captured Memories comes out next Tuesday, and it’s already available for pre-order here! After that release, I can gasp for breath for a little while, because it’ll be a couple months before Of Tinkers and Technomancers and A Reflection of Ice come out! Seriously though, all of my crazy writing this year has paid off! My beta-readers got back to me for Forged Decisions and I’m working on that at a slow but steady pace. I’m hoping to get that accepted before the end of 2017!

Teaser of the week:

Line of the week:

“You need to leave,” Katerina spat, unable to hold back the tides any more. Staring at Fiona, the guilt and anger on the face that had once beamed with affection, it hurt. She hurt. She hurt worse than the nights she’d curled in her cot as a servant, muscles aching, wounds stinging from the lumps she’d taken. This sort of pain, this was standing in front of the stones marking the mounds of dirt that her parents had been buried under. Of speaking aloud to those graves year after year, and only getting the empty whistle of the wind as a response.

Weekly Word Count #120

Word Count: 12,010

What story I’m currently working on: My GOD, I’m getting so into this new YA Fantasy Heist story, that I’ve been calling Musketeer Pirates. I started batting around some title ideas, so I’ll probably be rolling with one by next week. Last week I was talking big about how I was gonna take my tiiiime, and how I would take forever on this book. But I started really gelling with the story and progression, and honestly, my slapdash pantsing style took over. So I’m already up to 22k in the Musketeer Pirates story!

What I’m editing/marketing: Forged Alliances came out this week! Get your copy now!!! I got A Reflection of Ice back from my beta reader, so now I’m doing the final edits before submitting it in to publishers!!! I’m currently waiting on my line edits for Captured Memories, but on the plus I’ve got this gorgeous new cover for it! Next on the release agenda after that will be Of Tinkers and Technomancers with After Glows Publishing! As for the next Tribal Spirits book, Forged Decisions is currently out with beta readers!!!

Teaser of the week:

_Liv applied her cherry red lipstick in her rearview mirror with the precision of experience, her brand of war paint to give her confidence today._

Line of the week:

Weavers be damned, that baccarai would be the death of her. Katerina couldn’t argue with the statement because she simply didn’t want to. As much as she was proud of her post as a Kingsguard, and as much as she wanted to do her Uncle proud and have this Summit go off without a hitch, if she turned Fiona in on her suspicions now, she’d live with that regret for the rest of her life. No matter how much time had passed and no matter how many friendships she’d forged, no one came close to what she’d shared with Fiona Blackwater.

Even if it cost her dearly, Katerina had to give her the chance.

Music Monday-Fractured Fantasies Volume 2

Music Mondays are BACK!

Today we’ve got the lovely Torie James here with her latest release, Fractured Fantasies Volume 2!

I’d sat down with intentions to write only ONE volume for what became this series but my Dark Muse thought otherwise.

I’m entirely comfy writing paranormal romance, along with sub-genres like fantasy, sci-fi, etc. Erotica, however, was a field I never dreamt of taking but all it took was one person to double dog dare me and here we are.

I’m a huge fan of older shows such as The Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, Outer Limits, Tales from the Darkside and Tales from the Crypt. I wanted to write dark erotica with those shows in mind, those tales of erasing the lines between good and bad, blurring the limits of decadence and darkness and as always, learning valuable lessons only when its too late.

I’d like to think I’ve conquered that challenge with these lush, dangerous and sexy offerings.

Shakespeare said it best.

If music be the food of love, play on.

I’d like to offer an addendum, however.

If music be the food of love, play on. But if lust drives the bus, next stop is Kinkville!

Clearly, you can see why I don’t write profound poetry.

Making a playlist for these stories proved nearly as challenging as writing the stories themselves but when I did find songs that inspired me to go Dark Side, whole new worlds opened up and allowed me to paint a surreal, sexy backdrop. Here are a few of my faces.

Sweet Dreams (Marilyn Manson version) –

Now, I’m an 80s girl, tried and true. As such, the original version done by the Eurythmics is an all time favorite, hands down. But Manson’s version is slow, creepy and hypnotic, adding the right amount of shadiness. The way some chords are shredded, along with screeching synth, always makes me shiver.

Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me, Kill me – U2 –

Bono and the boys knocked it out of the ball park with this one. Slow, throbbing  mystery and low, throaty lyrics that reach out and wrap around the psyche. Kind of like a stranglehold of seduction.

Make Me Wanna Die – The Pretty Reckless –

Taylor Momsen surprised me with her vocal chops. I mean, wow. She was the little girl who played Cindy Lou Who in the Jim Carrey version of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. She went on to play a stellar role on Gossip Girl before fronting a bad ass band. This song is full of dark and delicious caution.

Take Me To Church – Hozier –

This one is fairly new in my repertoire but I’ve quickly fallen in love with it. Thumping bass, whispery strings and the lead singer’s amazing lyrics and voice bring it all together. It’s a song of depth and deception, heaven and hell. Sinner and saint. *swoon*

Little Talks – Of Monsters and Men –

I stumbled on this gem a couple of months ago by total accident. It’s so trippy!! I kid you not! I can’t praise it enough, simply for the fact that is it completely unidentifiable, if that makes sense. I’ve forced my sister and mother to listen to it then tell me what they thought the song was about. They had different answers and mine was also different from theirs. Part ghost story, part insanity, it leaves me a bit sad every time I hear it but that’s also part of its allure.

Fractured Fantasies Collection (Volume Two)

In the burning lands of rapturous fulfillment and unrequited desire, one false step can lead down the path towards delicious destruction. Impassioned appeals, sinful seductions and fevered longings can often hide degrees of twisted tenderness but don’t be fooled. Not all prisons have bars, silence can be deadly and even the sweetest face conceals monstrous insanity. Tread lightly, choose well or find sexual satisfaction at the dead end of one-way street.

Book One – The Factory

A glittering citadel born from blood money and power tripping provides the perfect stage for its mysterious owner and his young, dazzling wife. Before the final act is called and the curtain falls, they’ll both be tested to the limits of their personal, moral compasses. And neither of theirs point true north.

Book Two – Nevermore

Newlyweds on a romantic, Spanish honeymoon find themselves battling against stereotypes after a short engagement leads to a much longer commitment. In the shadows of infatuation, however, lay the groundwork for a cruel coupling that even death cannot part.

Book Three – The Nomad

In a post-apocalyptic, dystopian future, one young warrior woman travels the world in search of help against The Great Evil. When her travels take her far underground to the lair of the last great Champion, she finds duty mixing with desire and a tender temptation that threatens her mission.

Author Bio:

Born on the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous, Torie is the illegitimate love child of Han Solo and Daenerys Targaryen. Rescued by Gandalf shortly before her home planet was destroyed in the last days of the Clone Wars, she was raised in relative obscurity by her foster parents, Severus Snape and Pippi Longstocking. At the tender age of 113, she inherited the best little whorehouse in Texas and is rumored to be bringing Sexy Back. A self- confessed chocoholic, she’s been engaged to Willy Wonka despite gossip surrounding a lifelong affair with Bruce Wayne.

And clearly, she practices delusion on a daily basis.

The truth is, I’m just an overgrown kid with a vivid imagination who loves to write and share my crazy with the world. My future plans include, hopefully, buying a lovely Scottish castle and convincing Queen Elizabeth I that I’d make a fab addition to the Royal Family.

Three years ago, I finally got my ‘brave’ on and submitted a wee story about true love, honor, friendship and the magic within us all. That story was Timeless Night, the first book in a five book series I’ve named New Camelot. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to have published Timeless Desire (Book 2 of New Camelot), Beauty and The Feast (A New Camelot Thanksgiving Novella) Ties That Bind (The Cloie Chronicles I), Fractured Fantasies (Valentine’s Venom), Fractured Fantasies (Volume 1) and coming soon, Fractured Fantasies (Volume Two).

I live in Southern California, a stone’s throw from Disneyland, with my family and the most ridiculously spoiled pets anyone could imagine. I wake everyday with the determination to make this life as random, quirky and beautiful as it can be.

Lovely Authors and a Release Day Party

Help me celebrate my release day by joining me and a bunch of the most kickass authors for this Facebook party!

The lineup includes:

Sawney Hatton

Sawney Hatton is an author, editor, and screenwriter. Other incarnations of Sawney have produced corporate videos, attended Scottish Highland games, and played the banjo and sousaphone (not at the same time). He laughs at death, which has made for some very awkward funeral services.

Check out his novel Dead Size!

Sheri Velarde

I am a creative type who not only writes, but also paints and makes jewelry. I am most at home when creating. In my spare time I love to listen to live music, read, and just hang out with my fiancé and our two dogs.

Check out her novel, Quest for Redemption!

Jessica Cale

Jessica Cale is a historical romance author and journalist based in North Carolina. Originally from Minnesota, she lived in Wales for several years where she earned a BA in History and an MFA in Creative Writing while climbing castles and photographing mines for history magazines. She kidnapped (“married”) her very own British prince (close enough) and is enjoying her happily ever after with him in a place where no one understands his accent. You can visit her at

Check out her novel Tyburn, first of the Southwark Saga series!

Olivia Night

Olivia Night, a fictional character herself, has always been an avid reader and writer. She found the romance genre in college and has never been able to get enough. One sleepless night, the main characters of Book One in her Seduction series sprang from her head fully formed. They demanded she tell their story; so she did. As they revealed themselves, so did two other intriguing characters. Those characters convinced her to give them their own books because their stories were worth telling too. And so Olivia suddenly became a romance author. When Olivia is not writing, she has the best job in the world, which, too, will remain a secret. In her free time, she reads, write, runs, or is, most likely, out emulating Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Olivia lives in one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the U.S.—Baltimore. She lives with her cat, which she is convinced was a gladiator in his past life. Olivia plans to continue being awesome at this thing called life. Really, that’s her only goal.

Check out her novel Seduction in Sierra Leone!

Shelli Rosewarne

Shelli Rosewarne had always had a dream in the back of her head about wanting to be a writer, from the time she was handing in ten page stories at primary school and driving her teachers crazy. However, like with so many things, life and paying the bills got in the way and she worked in various jobs from call centers to shops to offices. She eventually realized that life is too short not to try and follow your dreams, and has since had her first stand alone novella published with Breathless Press, along with several submissions in anthologies, another novel contracted for later in the year and various works in progress in the pipeline. Yup, she’s having to pinch herself as well!
She currently lives in Edinburgh with her long-suffering fiancé and slightly psycho cat. When not writing she loves reading, music and photography.

Check out her novel, Love Reawakened!

Caroline Bradley

Still waters run very deep…

Caroline Bradley runs in the Philadelphia suburbs with her two teenage sons and a very boisterous cat named Mickey (who doesn’t run). And she’s never ever telling who inspired her fantasies…

I just recently started blogging, and I love it as well.

Check out her novel, Chaotic Evolution: Inception!

Landra Graf

Landra Graf consumes at least one book a day, and has always been a sucker for stories where true love conquers all. She believes in the power of the written word, and the joy such words can bring. In between spending time with her family and having book adventures, she writes romance with the goal of giving everyone, fictional or not, their own happily ever after.

Curiouser and curiouser…

I run and write for a geek blog, the Caffeine Crew. That’s nice, you say. There are five million geek blogs out there and plenty are way bigger than you. However, I didn’t start this with becoming the next IGN in mind, or to be a reviewer. I wanted to build a creative community inspired by my wonderful friends and our diner conversations. So, this year, we took a giant leap towards that with the Curiouser photoshoot, an Alice in Wonderland inspired photoshoot. We worked together, came up with the costuming, artistic direction, gathered all the models and produced beautiful art.

That wasn’t the last of it though–we’ve got talented writers at Caffeine Crew, and a photobook from our Curiouser shoot seemed to be the perfect fusion of that creativity. Hence, Curiouser, our journey of wit and whimsy was born. Featuring the photographs of Trisha Minicozzi and Ashley Battista-Fesh, as well as the poetry of Carrie Fulk Vaughn and myself, this is one compilation I’m so proud and excited about.

The release is slated for late September, so stay tuned for the date. The first convention I’m bringing copies to will be Steampunk Unlimited.

In the meanwhile, enjoy some behind the scenes photos:
