Taking Root Release Day!

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000447_00006]

The Eros Tales series is a combination of my love for Greek myths and family series. Not only is each book in the series based on a different Greek myth, but also features a different member of the Dukas family. I just finished writing book two, and I’m really hoping you all will love it as much as I did.

Grab your copy of the start of the series HERE!

I’ve been burned by my ex-fiancée and sentenced myself to long shifts at the hospital ever since. There’s no way I’d give anyone else the opportunity to break my heart again.

Until chance brings me face to face with the girl from my past.

Danielle is still as beautiful as ever, and seeing her reminds me of how I felt about her—how I still feel about her.

But she’s changed. I can see it when I look into her eyes. It’s like she’s no longer living, but merely existing. An enigma laden with secrets from her past—secrets that are forcing her to run from me. Only this time, I won’t let her get away so easily.

I’m determined to peel away every layer of secrets she carries around her, and to protect her from whatever it is that’s causing her to run.

Danielle Reynolds will not slip through my fingers again.

This time…she stays.

What story I’m currently working on:

Uh. So I was REALLY into writing this book apparently. I knocked out 10k on Monday alone, which was totally unexpected, and so Pomegranate’s Kiss is DONE guys. I really can’t believe it. But there was so much fun drama and now I should probably switch my focus onto editing pretty hard core, but I couldn’t help myself! I loved this couple so damn much, and I was really feeling the whole family series type of thing, so my brain is already dreaming up book three of the Eros Tales!

What I’m editing/marketing:

Outlier Heir’s just been idling while I write like a fiend, and the other focal point of mine has been micro-edits for A Thief’s Crusade. I’ve also started to work on some of the bigger changes, making the necessary alterations. I didn’t get as much feedback on this one, so I’m going to have to use my best judgement and really go over it well before I begin submissions. And I’m in major prep mode for the re-release next week of Hunting for Spring, Philadephia Coven Chronicles #1, and after finishing book two in the series, I’m even more excited for the launch of the brand new Eros Tales series, starting with Taking Root!

Teaser of the week:

“I needed a distraction. A drink, a good tumble, anything—even this sure-to-be- trouble punk show.”(1)

Currently listening to:

Line of the week:

“Let me help.” She reached out and grabbed Cerberus’s leash, sharing the load with Lex who passed her a grateful glance. The side shave she now rocked only made her hotter, and in a black wifebeater, threadbare jeans, and those Docs she never ditched, Lex was still the only one she fantasized about. Cerberus pranced around, unceremoniously slobbering all over the Dusquene family gravestones, and then trampling over the Mills.

“Normal couples take their dogs to the dog park,” Cam mentioned, a grin on her lips.

“Normal couples are boring as shit,” Lex shot back, heading towards the path that led to the water where weeping willows bowed, their long branches and leaves almost brushing the surface. “Thank fuck we’re nothing like that.”

Word Count: 9086

What story I’m currently working on:

Well. I had plans of focusing on one book, taking my time, blah, blah, blah. However, both Tempting Ballad and Pomegranate Kiss have been vying for my attention all week. Tempting Ballad’s currently at 5k, while Pomegranate Kiss elevated to 7! I’m trying to put some distance between me and A Thief’s Crusade and the distraction is working. Both couples are going to be SCORCHING too. I’m really excited to keep jamming away at these.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Slogging through the intensive edit of Outlier Heir, which is an interesting experiment in distance, patience, and the power of editing. Whether you’re looking to dive into paranormal romance or contemporary, I’ve got some fresh reads for you! In the PNR category, I’ve got Siren’s Call out for free,  Hypnotizing Beat, and if you want lighter, try Color of a Soul. I’m also prepping for July when I have not only the relaunch of my Philadelphia Coven Chronicles with Hunting for Spring, but the brand new launch of the Eros Tales series, starting with Taking Root!

Teaser of the week:

“Danny smiled sweetly. “I’m an Aquarius who enjoys long walks on the beach and playing in the blood of my enemies.”

Currently listening to:

Line of the week:

“I bet the clients come pouring in just for your award-winning attitude,” Mitch drawled, amusement in his eyes. He’d stopped piercing a couple of years ago for Inkspirations, but their friendship somehow weathered their born from the bowels of Hell dispositions.

“I’m not paid to pontificate, dickbag,” Lex continued. Truth be told, she owed Mitch a lot. He was one of the few friends who stayed after she’d gotten locked up, and even though they didn’t work together any more, they still hung out, whether it was taking the bikes for a drive or catching a shitty horror movie.

“Busting out your thesaurus now?” he joked, his eyes crinkled at the edges with his smile.

“Ladies love a linguist,” Lex shot back even as she focused on the sweep of the lines. That fugue state she descended into when she inked began to set in—the hyper-concentration, the way her hand swerved in a mesmerizing rhythm of lines and edges, only interrupted when she blotted the ink and dabbed more on. She was head over heels for this piece and they’d just started at the base of his arm, with plans of eventually doing a full sleeve. It was a messload of death and destruction, the black lines of the skulls, the crows flying overhead, and the flickering candle at the base, as flame ran up through the scenes.

pair-1362858_1920

After a decade away, Danielle Reynolds returns to Charleston.

Before WitSec and before her serial killer father went on the run, she had a different name and life here. Mere moments back and the past finds her when she draws the attention of Adrian Dukas, the gorgeous track star she tutored in high school.

Ever since Adrian’s fiancée left him, he’s sentenced himself to long shifts at the hospital and never-ending family responsibilities. However, when the redheaded stunner going by Danny Reynolds crashes into his life, Adrian can’t let the girl he pined after for years vanish a second time.

Attraction zings between them like Cupid’s arrow, and they both fall hard. Except Danny’s secrets and Adrian’s promises of the future will car-crash wreck them when she has to leave, and with her father on the move and heading to Charleston, their hourglass is running out of sand.

Weekly Word Count #159

Word Count: 2517

What story I’m currently working on:

I knoooow, my word count is still pretty terrible. I promise next week I’ll do better. Because I finished Taking Root, I was able to pop open Forged Contracts and begin that again! I’m up to 12k in Hypnotizing Beat and 3k for Forged Contracts. I am super excited to get back into these books and start writing again. It’s been so many long stretches of editing that I have been pushing writing off for awhile, so I think I’ve recharged enough to dive back into things.

What I’m editing/marketing:

I finished editing Taking Root and started sending it out! That’s what I spent most of last week doing–finalizing this book! Also, fingers crossed on books 3 and 4 that they get picked up with Soul Mate as I’ve got both on submission! On top of that, you can get both books in the Take to the Skies series for under 5 dollars! Catch the sale while you can! Now that my editing schedule is free, I can dive back into Musketeer Pirates, and I’m also formatting the final Take to the Skies book, The Airship Also Rises. If you’re waiting for Colors of a Soul, my Little Mermaid retelling, pre-order Legends of the Veil!

Teaser of the week:

“The way he spoke to me, the admiration in his gaze, reminded me so, so much of myself staring at Morris, eyes reaching for the stars.”

Line of the week:

“If you keep burning the midnight oil like this, I’m going to dub you the Ghost of Guitarist’s Past,” Ky set to yanking down the window behind the seats. Even though they’d parked in a dump of a lot with a bunch of beater vehicles and sketch neighbors, those desperate neons from the strip still tried their damndest to cut through the early morning grey.

“Who can sleep with the way you and Liz go at it?” Trevor muttered, reaching for one of Ren’s crumpled shirts he left strewn all through the floor of the RV. Trevor tossed it to Kieran. “Do us a favor and cover yourself up. The adoring fans aren’t here to see the show.”

Kieran flashed him a grin, his gold eyes sparking with that new relationship thrill, where everything was sunshine on the Mississippi, and problems were a snap to fix. Not that he could blame his bandmate for the infectious excitement. Kieran had fought hard to win Liz over to the commitment side. Trevor couldn’t imagine that sort of closeness with anyone. The thought of it settled around his throat, the phantom sensation one that lingered through the years.

Ky sniffed the shirt and wrinkled his nose. “Otherworld be damned, did Ren shit on this? You can deal with some skin, brother.”

What story I’m currently working on:

Well now, I thought I’d have a ton of time before even blinking at Taking Root again, but my beta readers are awesome and gave me critiques yesterday, so I’m real tempted to dive back in. I’m slowly creeping back into Hypnotizing Beat, hitting 8k, so I’m gonna have to really start diving into the universe again! Just recently got updates on Captivating Melody, not only the GORGEOUS cover, but also that it’ll be releasing in July! I also got 1k into the Airship Christmas short due in October. I figured get the small things off my plate quick.

What I’m editing/marketing:

I’ll have some news for you guys by next week, so sit tight! In the interim, I’ve launched full force into a large-scale edit of Musketeer Pirates. I’m going to take my time with this one and really make sure it shines. Hands down, it’s the most intensive fantasy worldbuilding I’ve ever done. If you’re waiting for Colors of a Soul, my Little Mermaid retelling, pre-order Legends of the Veil!

Teaser of the week:

“Rare stories traveled of those who rose too high, the ships who sailed like Icarus towards the sun.And like him, they crashed and burned for their arrogance.”.jpg

Line of the week:

“The two of you seem ready enough to stomp through town,” I called over, announcing myself before the loud slap of my boots did.

Isabella arched a brow. “I prefer a quiet stroll, at best.”

“There’ll be nothing quiet if this one is involved,” Mordecai muttered. For such a short time on our ship, he blended like he’d been here a decade.

“Hey now, all I’m looking for is a peaceful holiday, free from jobs, Morlocks, and captaining. It’s not my fault trouble trails in my tailwinds.”

Weekly Word Count #154

Word Count: 11,640

What story I’m currently working on:

Finished Taking Root at 60k last Sunday, so woop woop! I’ve got to admit though, I’m so not ready to leave that universe. I want to dive in and write all of the sibling stories–all the Greek myth parallels are making things clarify in my head so well. However, duty calls, and I need to spread the love to other series as well. I’m also now at 4k with Hypnotizing Beat! That’s going to be the next adventure, diving back into the Discord’s Desire universe that I loved so much. I’m really excited that Captivating Melody will be out in the world this year.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Still living that waiting life. I’ve got multiple submissions out for Philly Coven Chronicles, Tribal Spirits, and Cupid’s Cafe, so it’s just a matter of refreshing my inbox every two point five seconds. Colors of a Soul has been sent off to the editor, and I started doing the long, long, long rewrite of Musketeer Pirates. It’s intimidating, but I’m going to work on it as I have time. If you’re looking forward to Colors of a Soul, pre-order Legends of the Veil!

Teaser of the week:

“A thousand curses on girls with smart mouths and access to firepower.”

Line of the week:

A couple blocks down, she spotted the point of fascination. Even in Vegas, the group of three gorgeous guys in leather jackets and the tough-ass chick in ripped jeans was an attention draw. Not like the crew of Discord’s Desire could go anywhere without drawing attention—their charisma was off the charts. Danica wasn’t ready for the full reunion tour yet.

She reached out to press a business card into his palm. “Looks like Kieran Blackmore and the Sunshine Gang are paying a visit. Give me a ring sometime and we’ll chat.”

What story I’m currently working on:

Another slow writing week, but there happened to be a major wrench in my plans, sigh. After Glows Publishing is going through a reorganization process, so my Cupid’s Cafe book is also on hiatus. So, I returned my attention to Taking Root and have continued writing the follow up chapter to what I had prepped for the proposal. I figure I’ll just keep trucking away at that one until I get some news to push me in a direction. It’s been a ton of fun so far.

What I’m editing/marketing: Continuing to work on synopses and queries, but I’m making some headway and sent out the first submissions. I finished the Wanderers edit, and it’s STUNNING. I also got the beta reads back for the fae novella, so I started doing some edits on that–though, I have time since it’s not due until July! Once that’s done, I’m returning to Musketeer Pirates to spiffy it the hell up. My young adult fairytale, A Reflection of Ice came out three weeks ago, same with Corsets and Cogs, which hit bestseller and is now available in paperback!! In upcoming news, the other steampunk boxset I’m in, Gaslights and Graves, is available for pre-order!

Teaser of the week:

Right now, she didn’t want to think about the future, she just wanted to feel something wild and deep, something with fire enough to thaw the ice encasing her heart..jpg

Line of the week:

“Going to pull a Cinderella once midnight strikes?” he asked, barely able to hear his own words amidst the pulsing music and the bodies twisting and turning around them. He didn’t want tonight to end. He wanted the chance to get to know her in a real, lasting way like the imprints she’d left on his memory all those years ago.

Her lips quirked in a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, the sadness gleaming in those mesmerizing jade eyes. “Wouldn’t be any fun otherwise,” she responded. “Got to leave a little mystery or I’ll lose my allure.”

Disappointment curled in his chest, but she pressed her body against his, her nails digging into his shoulders. Not only did that lithe body of hers strike a fresh match to embers that he thought had died, but her vibrancy and her lonely fight made him want in a way he’d forgotten.
