You got it right, a book called Hampire. And it’s as hilarious as you think it’s going to be. Lana Moon somehow weaves her brand of sassy dialogue with a cute romance in a really fun story. The pacing was fast, the characters interesting and fleshed out, but also dealing with very relatable young adult issues. Altogether, it was a blast.
Sarah Smith’s week has taken a strange turn. After spending months in the hospital, she tries to resume her life…only to discover that high school is over and all her friends have future plans. Except her. Sarah hopes her luck has finally changed after taking a job at the mysterious local museum. But when she saves a starving hamster, her whole world is suddenly turned upside down. …Because the hamster she saves is no ordinary pet, but a dark creature capable of changing his form. And what he wants are two things: Sarah. And blood. For he is HAMPIRE.
Today I’d like to recommend On a Red Horse, by Monica Corwin!
One of my favorite things about Monica Corwin’s work that I’ve read so far is her inclusion of characters with disability/deformity, as well as her well developed female leads. On A Read Horse was a story I found myself instantly enamored with, and as I read on, I only grew to love it more. Not only am I a sucker for Greek mythology, but I really enjoyed the way she handled a character dealing with depression in this book. I’m super excited to read the rest of the series.
Scarlet needs a new job, but Horseman of the Apocalypse doesn’t sound good on a resume. Three years ago she followed her companions to Earth in an effort to live human lives. But the moment she left her husband Tyr she knew life wouldn’t be worth living. Lonely and longing for her husband, Scarlet is on a path of destruction that could endanger all the riders.
Tyr, god of justice, hunts his wife across the realms. From Hell to the Golden Throne, he travels until he finds her working as a phone operator. Scarlet is no longer the woman he fell in love with, and he is determined to bring that woman back to him if it takes the rest of eternity.
Even though the Horsemen live on Earth, they are still responsible for guarding four seals that can unleash the Apocalypse. When a prophecy is awoken by a deity who only has her own interests at heart, they must go on the defensive to keep their homes on Earth and protect the seals. If even one seal opens, it will start a chain reaction that will force the Horsemen to take up their mantles and destroy the new lives they’ve worked so hard to build.
