Review Blog:

In the darkness of night, desire reigns supreme.

The sins of the past live on in the present…

Carefree submissive Linnet Adams is living the dream with a promising future, another semester of school under her belt, and best of all, the devotion of Master Gage. Her life at Crave, the city’s most exclusive BDSM club, is everything to her until she’s thrust into a living nightmare.

Seven years, seven murders…

Ryder, a male submissive at Crave, is devoted to the lifestyle and one very hard to pin down Domme. He is also a Doctor of Psychology specializing in BDSM related crimes. When yet another murder occurs, he is asked to assist Detective Linnet Adams. Sometimes the truth is hiding in plain sight, and all it can take is one kiss.

The whisper of the cane can bring them heaven or hell…

Gage still dreams about the sub who got away. Linnet was his fantasy girl and the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. As the new owner of Crave, he still can’t get her out of his mind.

A discovery is about to rock his world and bring the past and future colliding together. If only he has the courage to embrace it.

Music Monday- Play Dirty

Guess who’s back for another Music Monday?

Rockstar romance author, LP Maxa, and this time to showcase the musical inspiration for the second book in her Devil’s Share series, Play Dirty!

If you haven’t checked out the songs for Play Nice, the first book in the series, check them out here!

These are some songs that really embody Smith as a character. Music is really powerful for me. It inspires me, it makes me remember, it sparks a lot of my stories. So here is part of my play list while writing Smith’s story in Play Dirty.
First up is Free Fallin’ by Tom Petty. If you’ve read Play Dirty then you know why. I love this song for Smith and Dylan. Smith is this bad boy with a dark as hell past and he’s bound to hurt her. He knows that she is everything good and light. But he just can’t stay away.

Next up is If I Didn’t Know Better by the Civil Wars. It’s got such a sweet slow hypnotic sound. And it’s sexy as all get out. I absolutely love this song. This version is actually my favorite and it’s a cover done on Nashville. I can’t for get enough of these two singing together.

Chris Stapleton singing Tennessee Whiskey. Does it get any better than that?! It’s soulful and it’s sweet. And you know all my Devil’s Share boys love their whiskey.
Hurricane by the Band of Heathens. Number one, it’s about New Orleans which is where Smith is from. Number two, another haunting song. It’s dark, but it’s so good.
And last, Everlong by the Foo Fighters. Just a great rock love song. This is the acoustic version, because it’s my fav.
I’m currently working on Jacks’s book, which I’m almost positive we’ll call Play Fair. I am so excited to get the next book in the Devil’s Share series out to you guys. I love to hear from readers, so feel free to contact me. All my info ( Facebook, Twitter, newsletter, blog and email) is on my website and you can also find me on Instagram at lpm0118.
Play Dirty
by LP Maxa
Smith James doesn’t need drugs. He just likes them a whole lot. And as bassist for the Devil’s Share, they are easy to come by. So are the women. With a steady supply of both he doesn’t have to think too hard about his past. But when a beautiful physician’s assistant joins the tour, Smith can’t help but want…more.

After watching her high school boyfriend OD, there is no way Dylan Lawson is going to fall for a rock star with a tenuous hold on sobriety, no matter how sexy his New Orleans drawl. She’s been hired to do one job: monitor the health of the lead singer’s girlfriend and her unborn baby. But once Smith flashes that sweet, vulnerable smile, Dylan can’t help but want…more.

And more is what they’ll get. Love on tour is never simple, and with a music festival in Smith’s hometown, a place he’s avoided for years, near his illiterate, abusive, meth-addled father, Smith is one bad night away from a relapse. But with her heart already lost, Dylan is willing to do whatever is necessary to save him—even play a little dirty.

Music Monday- Web of Secrets

More music to liven up your Monday!

Today let’s welcome Terry Poole featuring her book, Web of Secrets!

I am a huge fan of soundtrack mixes by Felicjl on Youtube. Sometimes the words of a song are distracting and I need the pure music. Emotional soundtracks are perfect for angst, Legendary for action.

Jann Arden, Where No One Knows Me – The song is about starting over. That describes Kelly and Nathan when they rediscover each other. If they accept the challenges facing them, they can start over and have the love they were denied as teens.

Lykke Li, No Rest For The Wicked – This song is about separation, caving into pressure and missing the one that got away. Nathan and Kelly were forcefully separated as teens but never got over each other.

Staind, Believe in Me – The name says it all.  Trust me to be there for you, believe in me. Both Nathan and Kelly need to learn to trust each other and the strength of their love in order to survive.

Tyrone Wells, Sink or Swim – The challenges facing the men will either make or break them.  Choices must be made and the consequences faced.

I am currently working on two projects.

The first is a ghost story tentatively called Seeing is Believing.  An unassuming writer witnesses the murder of a police detective.  Imagine his shock when he wakes to find the dead detective at the foot of his bed. There is mayhem, betrayal, a murderer on the hunt and of course love.

I’ve also begun writing a sequel to Web of Secrets that I’m calling Price of Secrets. Just when everything seems to be going good for Kelly and Nathan, an old case of Kelly’s reopens wounds as treachery and revenge endanger both the men lives.

When you want it hot, dive into Poole.

Brilliant surgeon Nathan Kirkfield comes face-to-face with his childhood demons when his parents’ deaths force him back home to settle the family estate. Sent to oversee the sale of the house and contents is former FBI Agent Kelly MacNiel, now of the MacNiel Auction House; he couldn’t possibly have imagined he’d find the young man from a case gone horribly wrong grown into a devastatingly attractive man. The two of them discover a connection built in the ruins from that tragedy.

Now Nathan must decide if he can accept the changes in his life that this relationship will bring while struggling with his boss’s harassment and her threats to destroy his work. To complicate matters, unexplained break-ins lead to an attempt upon Nathan’s life. If Kelly doesn’t conquer the monsters that besiege him, everything he’s come to love will be at stake.

Music Mondays- Both Sides Now

Fill your Monday morning with excitement!

Today let’s welcome Megan Slayer who’s featuring her book, Both Sides Now

If You Want Blood – AC/DC   – Michael is very much the showman musician and he puts his all into his performances. He also puts his all into his job at the school. He’ll go the extra distance and this song always reminds me of how much he works to keep the balance between his two lives.

You Can Dance – Bryan Ferry – This one’s a very sensual song. I see the dance of two lovers, Michael and Niall, sorting out their feelings, fumbling towards the goal of getting together and having a hot time while doing all of that. Plus it’s a very progressive song which matches Michael’s personality.

This Time It’s Different – Evans Blue – The name of this song fits the story the best. For Michael and Niall, this time around, it’s different. I love the tune of the song and the way the singer blasts through the lyrics. One of the lines is about being broken and that fits Niall. He’s convinced he’s not enough to keep his partner happy and it’s up to Michael to prove him otherwise.

Erase My Scars – Evans Blue – This song goes along with Niall’s personality and his need to be loved despite his past. He’s not broken, per se, but he’s been through the wringer in life. He needs someone to come along and help him erase those scars. Michael wants to be that person.

My Hero – Foo Fighters – Now you’d think this might mean Michael is Niall’s hero because he’s the leader of a metal band, but you’d be wrong. Niall is Michael’s hero because he’s comfortable in his own skin and Michael’s still working on getting to that point.

I’ve got to say it’s a weird play list. That’s me, though. That’s how my brain works. It might not make sense if you see the pieces, but all together it fits. There are more songs, but these the ones that stand out for me.

Come check me out! I love visitors!!!

When she’s not writing the stories in her head, Megan Slayer can be found luxuriating in her hot tub with her two vampire Cabana boys, Javier, Luke and Jeremy. She has the tendency to run a tad too far with her muse, so she has to hide in the head of her alter ego, but the boys don’t seem to mind.

When she’s not obsessing over her whip collection, she can be found picking up her kidlet from school. She enjoys writing in all genres, but writing about men in love suits her fancy best. The cabana boys are willing to serve, unless she needs them. She always needs them. So be nice to Javier or he will bite–on command.

She also masquerades under the name Wendi Zwaduk and is published through Loose ID Publishing, Liquid Silver Books, MLR Press, Resplendence Publishing, Totally Bound Publishing, Ellora’s Cave, Changeling Press and Decadent Publishing.

Music Monday-Deeper Than Perfect

Don’t fear the Monday Blues, music and book talk to the rescue!

Today let’s welcome Afton Locke with the book Deeper Than Perfect.

In my latest release, Deeper Than Perfect, Desiree the heroine goes back in time to 1974 to fall in love with an R&B superstar. I think musicians are hot!

Deeper Than Perfect by Afton Locke

Get your funk on!

Release Date: 7 November 2015

Stay tuned for reviews and more:

Watch the Book Trailer:

Wake up and Live – Bob Marley

This song and musician are the inspiration and theme of the book. I played it over and over when writing the grand finale.

I Was Made For You – Aretha Franklin

Watching this makes me feel we are meant for one person only, even if that person is in a different plane or time.

More Than a Woman – Tavares

The 70s are known for great dancing. There’s a scene in the story where the couple does some crazy dancing in the house on the spur of the moment.

You’re Beside Me – The Isley Brothers

I played the Isley Brothers a lot while writing the book because they personify 70s romance. This song says a couple can be together even when not physically in the same place.

Distant Lover – Marvin Gaye

With time travel, the threat of separation always hangs over a couple’s head. Knowing one person could travel away in time makes loving moments especially poignant.

Desi Warner is ready to end her life after an accident disfigures her face and destroys her modeling career. Instead, she goes back in time to 1974 to meet her destiny—R&B superstar Bernie Benson. Although her scars vanish, she and Bernie only have one month before a car accident will supposedly claim their lives.

The enigmatic singer ignites her senses, but her restored beauty is an illusion she can’t trust. Abandoned by his mother in childhood, Bernie has his own trust issues. Obsessed with completing his album, he’s just as hooked on his perfect singing career as Desi is to modeling.

Although they open each other’s eyes to different paths, change is not easy. When the fated day of the crash arrives, they must choose between life and perfection. A love that is deeper than perfect may be their only key to survival.

Coming Soon

Cali’s Hurricane (Oyster Harbor Series Book 4) – interracial historical romance

Music Monday- Conquest of the Heart

Just another Music Monday (try to not get Manic Monday stuck in your head…).

Today let’s welcome Michele Stegman to the blog to discuss Conquest of the Heart!

I don’t really listen to music when I write. If the radio happens to be on, I “tune” it out. Music is so powerful, that it becomes a distraction for me. But I do love music, especially classical music and opera, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Mussorgsky, Puccini, etc. I also love movie sound tracks such as Last of the Mohicans, Pirates of the Carribean, and Dances With Wolves. But my favorite way to enjoy music is to play the piano.

Sometimes I will stay up late and play the piano into the night, until 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. It seems such a personal time for me, alone with my piano and my music. And here I am living in a log cabin way out in the woods, with no neighbors nearby. I can’t even see the road from my cabin. And when my husband is at work, I am here by myself. But those nighttime hours are still special.

When I was a child, my first album was Nutcracker Suite. Sure, I liked popular music, too, and listened to it with friends, but classical music was what I really enjoyed, even in grade school.

Now, classical music is still my very favorite, but as the pianist for my church, I am appreciating anew the music I grew up with in church. I especially love finding new arrangements of hymns.

So how do I use music to help me write? Music has rhythm, of course, and so does writing. In the best music, there is a growing tension and then a release that is similar to writing those climatic scenes. I also find inspiration when I listen to grand, sweeping music. I can “see” what is happening when the music plays. And sometimes, that inspires scenes and ideas for new books. I just don’t listen while I write!

I’m working on a western romance set in Texas in 1869. It’s about a man who isn’t as bad as he thinks he is, but who still needs redemption and forgiveness, mainly from himself.

Music Mondays- A Rose By Any Other Name

It’s kind of a wonderful thing how other’s creativity breeds inspiration, and I love to see how that works so frequently with musicians and writers. So join in for another Music Monday!

Today let’s welcome Landra Graf with her book A Rose By Any Other Name

Rose SmallSo what songs inspired this story?

Zombie by the Cranberries

– This song plays to the amount of violence my main characters have to deal with during the zombie epidemic. It’s not pretty nor is it happy.

Till I Hear It From You by the Gin Blossoms

– Whenever I listened to this song it brought to life my hero, Jason. He’s waiting for my heroine to wake up and realize he cares about her, wants more than just friendship, but he’s waiting for her to reciprocate.

La Vie En Rose by Louie Armstrong

– This is Rose’s song. She’s the main antagonist and it’s her theme. So naturally.

Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie

– This is the song that got everything started, all the action in the story is inspired by this one.

I Don’t Want to Wait by Paula Cole

– I still remember this song from Dawson’s Creek (yes, I watched the show). Emmaline is so my Joey and she’s always been in love with essentially the ‘boy next door’. So when sparks finally fly this song helped everything along.

I just finished the second book in my alternate history romance series titled, The Raven Who Caught The Canary. I’ll be moving into some contemporary work for a little bit to wrap up a few projects I’ve never gotten around to completing.

Where can your readers find you? They can check me out at my website: or find me on twitter @landragraf. I’m also on facebook, pinterest, and a slew of other social media haunts. It won’t be too hard to locate me.

A Rose By Any Other Name

Zombies don’t belong in fairy tales….at least not those with a good chance of a happily ever after…

Jason Prince, Charming’s once-upon-a-time star jock, only attends his Charming high school reunion to find his way into the heart of a certain wallflower who had no date for the prom.

Shy, geeky, chemical engineer, Emma Fay has been keeping her love for Jason a secret because she knows Jason and Rose belong together. But, when Rose Briar pricks her finger, fulfilling a prophecy about death and a plague, she throws a wrench into the class reunion that not even the best planning committee can tackle.

Can Jason and Emma stop Zombie Beauty Rose before she turns their loved ones into her undead court and sends them forth to spread the infestation to the rest of the world? Or will human flesh become the daily special at diners everywhere? And will there be enough left of Jason and Emma for romance to blossom?
