Word Count: 130

What story I’m currently working on:

Since I didn’t update the last one, consider this the shortest week ever! The word count should’ve been zero since I spent a ton of time catching up on beta reads, working on content editing jobs, and the rewrite for The Lies We Weave (Musketeer Pirates), BUT I may have scribbled down the opening lines for Forged Futures. Those shifters keep “hounding” me. Still, I’m determined to put down 10k into Hypnotizing Beat by the end of September.

What I’m editing/marketing:

I’m moving forward with The Lies We Weave. It’s got a fancy new name, is getting a total quality rewrite, and then I’ll be weaving in like 8 new scenes. Also, rewriting is a bitch and takes forever. WAY longer than fresh-writing a book. The next thing out on the horizon will be Bustles and Bells sometime later this year, probably closer to Christmas. I know our stories are due October 1st…mine may already be turned in.

Teaser of the week:

“Mislabeled the sign,” a cocky voice called from the door. “Should read ‘Doggie Daycare_ with the amount of pups packed into this place.” The man_s eyes twinkled with his l

Line of the week:

The house never felt as empty as it did in mid-winter.

Lana thought the loneliness would’ve gripped her by the throat those early summer nights after Kyle died, but those didn’t compare to the brittle ache that had descended with the new year.

What story I’m currently working on:

I’m continuing to rock forward with Forged Contracts, and while I hit 37k as of now, I’m hoping to hit 40k by the end of the week. The goal is to finish the book by the end of August and I’m so very excited. I’ve already started contemplating more on the final two books, so I’m fairly certain they’re going to high on the agenda after. Though, in the interim, I should probably lay down some chapters into Hypnotizing Beat to keep pushing forward. I have the feeling that once I get really going into that series I’ll be firing on all cylinders there too.

What I’m editing/marketing:

Well, first off, Legends of the Veil is LIVE! And The Airship Also Rises is up for pre-order! I’m so excited for it to come out! As far as edits go, I’ve put a massive dent into An Airship Carol, which will be heading to the editor’s by the end of the month. Once I finish that, I’ll push forward on Musketeer Pirates, because I need to continue to put work into that as well. (It’s so hard when I’m wrapped up in writing a new book, because it’s like candy and I love it)

Teaser of the week:

“They shot one of ours.” The lines deepened around his grey eyes. “I_d waste the whole army for spilling a drop of my crew_s blood.”(1)

Line of the week:

Raven swallowed. Her heart squeezed so tight she couldn’t breathe. The truth lay brazen in the air, waiting to be grasped and devoured, and even still, she hesitated. The patterns she’d developed over the years were comfortable, the pain as much a part of her as the scars on her skin. Now she stood on the precipice where she might be able to push past that longing that sliced shards in her chest, and she felt crazy for questioning it.

“What are you, part shaman?” Raven joked, even as the truth settled across her skin, that Jer had shared the same longing, the same pain all these years.

Lana’s lips twisted in a knowing smirk. “Worse. Massage therapist.”

What story I’m currently working on:

Well, I slowed down a little this week, mostly because I had some external factors and my focus was crap. Hypnotizing Beat is still chilling at 12k, but Forged Contracts has bumped up to 17k! I’m still hoping to hit 30k with it by the end of July, as I’ve got a lot planned for it. Raven and Jer’s story is going to grip you by the throat from page one and not let go–intense is the name of the game here.

What I’m editing/marketing:

So, I have The Airship Also Rises formatted for the most part, and I did do a smidge of work on Musketeer Pirates, but the major edits I delved into were the line edits for both Forged Decision and Forged Alliances! No wonder I didn’t have the time to get extra written this past week. On the plus, both books are completely ready to come out next year! Still waiting to hear about the final two Philly Coven Chronicles books, but hopefully we see some movement there so that wonderful series can start hitting the shelves again! And my next release is only a couple of weeks away, with Legends of the Veil coming out August 1st!

Teaser of the week:

“A thousand curses on girls with smart mouths and access to firepower.”

Line of the week:

“Mackey Kendricks,” Jer responded, loping forward to catch up with her. “Did you know him from your Landslider days?”

Her shoulders tensed a fraction at the mention of his name. “Everyone knew Kendricks,” was all she said. The coldness in her tone implied more than she let on. Raven didn’t turn around to look at him, and Jer stayed a pace or two behind on purpose. Something in the way she held herself right now was so remote that direct contact, anything that brought her to reality, might spook her.

“Jer?” she said, that same lightness in her tone, the one that caused goosebumps to rise along his arms.

“Yeah, Rae?” he stepped up to the doorframe even though she already strode paces ahead towards her car.

“If you see Mackey, don’t try to hunt him down. Don’t try to fight him. Just run.”

What story I’m currently working on: I hit 50k with Airship, but the binge session on Monday left me needing a bit of a break before I keep pushing with that book. I’ve got about 25-30k left to write and I’m going to get back to it next week, with a goal of finishing it by the end of the December! Plus, I’ll be getting to work on Forged Contracts whenever I want! After two back to back months of pushing 50k out each, I’m stoked to kinda scale back to nice and easy. (Until I get all into the end of Airship and end up binge writing that :P)

What I’m editing/marketing: If you haven’t listened to the audio book for An Airship Named Desire, get on it! A Tale of Two Airships is under consideration via ACX, and it will be out within the next couple weeks! In the next couple weeks I’ll probably start on my Musketeer Pirates critiques, since my two betas got back to me on it! As for Forged Decisions, I’m still waiting to hear from my editor, and for Of Tinkers and Technomancers as well as A Reflection of Ice, I’m awaiting my first set of edits!

Line of the week:

Viola approached, her gaze fixed on the horizon. “What’s to bet the tackiest building in the neighborhood belongs to that cur?”

“Not everyone can fancify a joint like you, darling,” I drawled before skipping a pace or two ahead to try and get a better view. “The rest of us are slapping twigs together with glue.”

Geoff slung an arm around my shoulders, drawing me in tight. “And where the hell are you getting glue aboard our ship? You know Edwin doesn’t share supplies.”

What story I’m currently working on: Continuing on the YA fantasy novel, since I’m trying to complete my goal of finishing it by the end of October. Which means I’m setting a really aggressive pace of close to 2,000 words a day, with some exceptions. On the plus, I rocketed ahead to 51k, so I’m definitely making strides. I’ve passed the halfway point of the novel, where shit is really starting to reach a crescendo. I think it’s going to be the action-y stuff coming up soon, which should be intense.

What I’m editing/marketing: Forged Alliances came out three weeks ago and already I’m gunning ahead on the next one. Captured Memories comes out next Tuesday, and it’s already available for pre-order here! After that release, I can gasp for breath for a little while, because it’ll be a couple months before Of Tinkers and Technomancers and A Reflection of Ice come out! Seriously though, all of my crazy writing this year has paid off! My beta-readers got back to me for Forged Decisions and I’m working on that at a slow but steady pace. I’m hoping to get that accepted before the end of 2017!

Line of the week:

“You need to leave,” Katerina spat, unable to hold back the tides any more. Staring at Fiona, the guilt and anger on the face that had once beamed with affection, it hurt. She hurt. She hurt worse than the nights she’d curled in her cot as a servant, muscles aching, wounds stinging from the lumps she’d taken. This sort of pain, this was standing in front of the stones marking the mounds of dirt that her parents had been buried under. Of speaking aloud to those graves year after year, and only getting the empty whistle of the wind as a response.

What story I’m currently working on: My GOD, I’m getting so into this new YA Fantasy Heist story, that I’ve been calling Musketeer Pirates. I started batting around some title ideas, so I’ll probably be rolling with one by next week. Last week I was talking big about how I was gonna take my tiiiime, and how I would take forever on this book. But I started really gelling with the story and progression, and honestly, my slapdash pantsing style took over. So I’m already up to 22k in the Musketeer Pirates story!

What I’m editing/marketing: Forged Alliances came out this week! Get your copy now!!! I got A Reflection of Ice back from my beta reader, so now I’m doing the final edits before submitting it in to publishers!!! I’m currently waiting on my line edits for Captured Memories, but on the plus I’ve got this gorgeous new cover for it! Next on the release agenda after that will be Of Tinkers and Technomancers with After Glows Publishing! As for the next Tribal Spirits book, Forged Decisions is currently out with beta readers!!!

Teaser of the week:

_Liv applied her cherry red lipstick in her rearview mirror with the precision of experience, her brand of war paint to give her confidence today._

Line of the week:

Weavers be damned, that baccarai would be the death of her. Katerina couldn’t argue with the statement because she simply didn’t want to. As much as she was proud of her post as a Kingsguard, and as much as she wanted to do her Uncle proud and have this Summit go off without a hitch, if she turned Fiona in on her suspicions now, she’d live with that regret for the rest of her life. No matter how much time had passed and no matter how many friendships she’d forged, no one came close to what she’d shared with Fiona Blackwater.

Even if it cost her dearly, Katerina had to give her the chance.

What story I’m currently working on: So, I’m not quite done with Forged Decisions yet, due to a bit of a slowdown. I hit 52k with Forged Decisions, and the goal is 60k, so I do promise by the next update I will be finished with the second book of the Tribal Spirits series! Once I’m done that, I’m excited to launch more fully into the Musketeer Pirates story since the ideas are flowing for that one!

What I’m editing/marketing: Forged Alliances is just about ready for release, which is all of the excite! That’s a measly couple weeks away! On top of that, I just signed a new contract, this one for Of Tinkers and Technomancers! I’m about 1/3 done the rewrite on A Reflection of Ice as well, so with any luck, I’ll have another contract in my future! So far this year’s contracts have included Waking for Winter, Captured Memories, Forged Alliances, and Of Tinkers and Technomancers…if I can get Forged Decisions into shape plus A Reflection of Ice, that would put me to an all time record of six in one year!

Teaser of the week:

She navigated with the stealth afforded to her kind, the silent approach of a wolf.

Line of the week:

She lifted the coffee up to her lips and took a sip, her own brand of liquid courage. As the hot fluid slipped down her throat, she stood a little straighter. “We haven’t had a chance to talk yet,” she said, feeling as though she stepped on the precipice of a ledge, ready to drop into a canyon below. Already, the coziness of the morning and the scorching memories of last night had begun to gray around the edges in the wake of the fear that threatened to steal her breath away. Finn’s brows furrowed, and the frown on his lips made her feel queasy.
