Weekly Word Count #101

Word Count: 4,085

What story I’m working on: Slowed down a bunch this week due to coming home from Steampunk World’s Fair and having to get back into the writing groove. I hit 15k with the Cupid’s Cafe story where I’m scrambling to figure out where they’re heading before the next big plot point comes up.

What I’m editing/marketing: Threw myself fully into editing Future King, which has been super fun even if the edits are slow going. I’m going to practice some patience on this one and make sure it’s as polished as possible before I submit though. Plus, in the span of a week, I managed to get four rounds of content edits exchanged with my editor, meaning Waking for Winter is off to lines!

Line of the week:

The word said aloud made him cringe, from the thousands of confessions he heard at the meetings to the memories tied along with it—of the scent of vomit and piss in a rotten alleyway, of how every muscle in his body ached so much he thought he’d never move again, and of the deep depression that saturated his bones in the aftermath, so strong he wanted to die.

Steampunk World’s Fair 2015

Got back from Steampunk World’s Fair last night and did some decompressing for about five minutes before getting to work on all of my Solstice Brews tea stuff. It was an absolute blast. Great people, great energy, and memorable times.

IMG_2265We had a vending room sing-a-long, which has become a con staple for me, as well as ridiculous shenanigans. Most importantly though, I got to see my con family again, as well as meet new people. Did I mention, I *love* meeting new people?

My heart warmed every time someone told me they’d read An Airship Named Desire, or bought a book and asked me to sign. I was so flattered I could explode with happiness, like I am every time I do these events. I gave out all of my Poisoned Apple audio samples too, so hopefully folks will get to listen to the wonderful vocal talents of Sally Rouge!

All in all, I had a blast and I want to thank everyone who stopped by my stand and chatted with me! See you lovelies next year!
