Weekly Word Count #79

Word Count: 3,500

What story I’m working on: Back to normal word counts since NaNo is over and I have all the edits to do! I’m working on my Future King series now, as well as a novella with shifters! Werekitties and werewolves!

What I’m editing/marketing: Chasing Fate is top on my list, but I’ve also started doing some minor brush up on Waking for Winter since the beginnings of my beta feedback is coming in!

Line of the week:

The truth was, as much as I tried to deny my power with alchemy, the moment my fingers touched metal, my entire soul buzzed. I’d tamped down my urges time and time again over the years, but if anything, they’d grown hungrier in my refusal, the sensations stronger. I sucked in a sharp breath, not wanting to acknowledge the reality Merlin suggested, one that stirred me deep in my bones, to a primal part of myself I’d restrained my entire life.

What story I’m working on: Waking for Winter

What I’m editing/marketing: Chasing Fate!!!

Line of the week:

Her skin crawled the closer they got, as if spiders click-clacked all up and down her arms and legs. The air bloomed with the ripe scent of blood, of decay, of magic, and that heaviness coated her tongue with each swallow like oil.

What story I’m working on: Waking for Winter for NaNoWriMo! WOOOO! I’m in the final sector of this final book of the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles!

What I’m editing/marketing: Still editing Chasing Fate. It’s shaping up to probably be my best manuscript, hands down.

Line of the week:

It would be so easy to run the other way and keep running, claiming solace in Dante’s arms. However, that’s one of the reasons she’d stayed away the first time she disappeared from his life. Because Cami wanted to honor her mother by becoming a ferociously strong woman, just like her. One willing to fight for what was important to her, no matter the cost. Here and now, this is where she drew her line in the sand, where she separated herself from the weak and the strong.

What story I’m working on: Waking for Winter. My word count is gonna be hella booming, because it’s NaNoWriMo time and I’m participating. My hope is to get the final Philadelphia Coven Chronicles book finished this month!

What I’m editing/marketing: Just finished editing Chasing Fate enough to send off to beta readers. I. Can’t. Wait. to plunge back into work on that book until I make it all shiny new. It’s an old story, but one with bones so strong they’re worth resurrecting.

Line of the week:

She’d hoped, prayed, that her time with Akanda had ended the day Dante saved her, the day the one man she’d loved so deep to quake the earth itself had returned into her life at her weakest and worst. Except the nightmare hadn’t ended, wouldn’t end. Not while the Caoranach drew another breath.

What story I’m working on: Waking for Winter

What I’m editing/marketing: Just finished the first pass on the Chasing Fate Rewrite! From here, it’ll go to my husband for critiques so I can get the changes up to date, and then out to beta readers! And then I’ll be cleaning this ol’ gal up for submissions, hopefully before the end of the year!

Line of the week:

Either way, even a block away, the insidious crawl of the Caoranach’s presence weighted the air, her mark like the toxic sludge that factory towers piped into the skies.

What story I’m working on: Waking for Winter (Yeah, yeah, progress is slow going, but I’m making a major dent in Captivating Melody edits!)

What I’m editing/marketing: Captivating Melody like a boss! And I’ve been submitting the crap out of Night Awakens too.

Line of the week:

“After a lifetime of promises as broken as the Coke bottles lining the streets of this city, and the same jagged edge to all of his relationships, she’d been the first to offer genuine kindness and care, to the point where he hadn’t trusted it for a heartbeat.”

What story I’m working on: Rising for Autumn, book three of the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles! (Finally picking up a bit of speed!)

What I’m editing/marketing: Editing Night Awakens and Captivating Melody (even though I was supposed to wait on all my beta-reader responses, I couldn’t wait!) As for marketing, I’m pushing full steam ahead with Scrying for Summer which comes out super soon!

Line of the week:

The closer she trudged down the path, the more familiar those tombstones became, glaring at her for trespassing on the forbidden ground. Even closer, the phantom scent of cloying incense invaded her senses, the same way it had that day as the priest shook in back and forth.
