Throwback Thursday: By the Sea

By the Sea-highres

Most kids had imaginary friends, but most weren’t like Megan’s friend Niall. There were rules: only at night and only by the sea. She could’ve sworn he was real, but when someone vanishes without a trace, what else can you believe?

All that was seven years ago, buried in the past until Niall shows up in town with his tight swimmer’s body and easy smile. For Megan, just the sight of him is enough to tear open a scar that never fully healed. However, their reunion only elicits more questions. Niall’s keeping secrets, unbelievable ones, and as Megan delves into the supernatural depths of who he really is, she’s sure he’ll vanish again.

Megan’s not stupid—she knows how bad it’ll hurt if she gets involved. The first time Niall disappeared, she never thought she’d recover. But the moment they lock eyes, it’s too late—because Megan will go to any length to see that boy smile.

Music Monday- Scrying for Summer

Return of the Music Monday!

This one will be delivering a hefty helping of Scrying for Summer which will release tomorrow with Loose Id! Who’s excited? I know I am!

(Warning, this playlist was eclectic)

MSI- Straight to Video

This one jumped into my head early on, probably because Jev’s character is a club kid in the alternative scene, and while this isn’t the fare they played at Nocturne when I was a teenager, I do have strong memories of that timeframe with this song. The spunkiness and energy of the song fit a lot of the interim scenes of the book and their jaunts through Philly.

Don Henley- The Boys of Summer

How do you have a summer-themed book without this song? Honestly, this one took me back too, because I had a summer I spent falling in love at diners, and this song was always playing on the radio in the background. The nostalgic feel of this fit the book so, so well, and really helped me nail down some of the sweeter, more intense moments between Liam and Jev.

The Outfield- Your Love

Another super summery song for me, probably due to the heavy nostalgia-laced riffs throughout. Seriously, try to listen and not sing along with this song. It’s impossible. Regardless, this was another song I tuned into when I was writing down the sexier and deeper moments between Liam and Jev.

D.H.T.- Listen to Your Heart

Another classic from my summer love in diners, this version of Listen to Your Heart was CONSTANTLY on replay, and I couldn’t help indulge in writing the deepest, shard-slicing moments of Liam and Jev’s romance to this song. Seriously, points of this book broke my heart, and I connected to these characters in a really unique way, probably why the story came so effortlessly.

Sonic Boom Six-Floating Away

More summer-nostalgia-fueled songs, except this one has a darker note that I’ll always adore. Also, must pause a moment to pimp the ever loving hell out of Sonic Boom Six. This song always transports me to a slightly melancholic but beautiful place, of remembering the past, and of the mistakes once made, which fits Liam’s state of mind perfectly.

The next project on the horizon is Rising for Autumn, book THREE in the Philly Coven Chronicles. This one deals with Alanna and Sam, necromancers galore, and more Coven politics! I am typing away at the moment because I can’t wait to share it with you all!
