Weekly Word Count #63

Word Count: 10,686 (You can tell I’m nearing the end when my word counts jump up like this.)

What story I’m working on: Rising for Autumn, and I’m at 50k! Only 10,000 more words until I burst past the finish liiinnne and then it’s edits and submission time!

What I’m editing/marketing: Currently editing Night Awakens and Captivating Melody simultaneously. It’s a doozy. As for marketing, I’m pimping the hell out of recently released Scrying for Summer, A Tale of Two Airships, and the Airship Named Desire sale–it’s only 99 cents at the moment!

Line of the week: (MYYYY HEEARRRRRT. This section slayed me.)

The purple sky spread out full of distant promise, the stars twinkling just out of reach. She memorized the proud arch of his nose, those full lips, and the somber eyes of a man who’d experienced enough grief to make anyone a monster. And yet, she’d never met a more caring individual in her life. A thousand words blossomed to her lips and died there, because no amount of speaking could communicate the depths of how he’d affected her. Of how he’d changed her.

Word Count: 5,530

What story I’m working on: Rising for Autumn! And I’m starting to hit a groove with it at last, so I’m thinking I can probably get these next 20k words out in the next two weeks. WE SHALL SEE.

What I’m editing/marketing: Was editing a Tale of Two Airships and marketing the shit out of Scrying for Summer. WHY? Because Scrying for Summer is OUT, and A Tale of Two Airships is up for PRE-ORDER! WOOOOOOO!!!!!

Line of the week:

Despite all the sins he’d committed, she deemed him worthy of forgiveness, and wasn’t that just life? The one person he couldn’t have was the one he’d fallen for.

Weekly Word Count #41

Word Count: 5,285

What story I’m working on: Night Awakens, and I’m nearing the 50k mark! Which means shit will need to hit the fan pronto. WOOO.

What I’m editing/marketing: Submitting the Iron Legacy and Reflection of Ice, editing A Tale of Two Airships, and Scrying for Summer is getting rave feedback out with beta-readers at the moment!

Line of the week:

Up above was a sky full of glitter and tufts of charcoal clouds that seemed so distant from the brick splintering the ground down below and the increasing pool of red staining the asphalt. Detached from the shithole hell we’d created for ourselves.

What story I’m working on: Back to Night Awakens, my lovelies! It was a little tricksy to get back in the groove mid-story, but I have some different, better perspective I’m working with right now.

What I’m editing/marketing: A Tale of Two Airships–getting hard into the content edits of this one now. Slow going, like content edits always are for me, but I’m plugging away. I will say, it’s making me more and more excited to release it later this year. And I just started shipping Scrying for Summer off to the beta-readers. Not going to lie, the feedback I’m getting so far has me hella excited.

Line of the week:

“Wouldn’t dare,” he said with a smirk. “Cute attempt at a cover up earlier too.” He strode out of my kitchen and made his way to the door. “We both know you don’t give a goddamn about following orders for your team. You didn’t want her to kill me because you liiike me.”

Infuriating. Presumptuous. Pompous. Ass.

Updates in the Writing-Sphere

Here it is, folks, 2016. And like any year, I’ve got plans, grand plans. However, if you’re me, all of those plans get tangled up in your head way too fast, and then I write a thousand lists on a thousand scraps of paper. That doesn’t tell any of you jack though, so here’s what’s on the horizon for this year.

Audio Books:

Stolen Petals and An Airship Named Desire will be coming out in audio book format thanks to the talents of Sally Rouge! Both of these will be available for order before the end of the year!

Novels coming out:

Right now, the only guarantee is A Tale of Two Airships, the second book in the Take to the Skies series. It’s hella fun, and I can’t wait to share it with you all.

I’ll be trying my damndest on getting Scrying for Summer published, but of course that’ll all depend on how well Hunting for Spring does. If you want this sequel as badly as I do, please, please, please show your support for Hunting for Spring. Leave a review, buy a copy, tell your friends!

And then there’s the unfortunate news about Jupiter Gardens Press shutting down. On the sad side of things, it always sucks to see another press go. On the positive, I get my rights back on April 30th, and I’m hiring a cover artist to put a brand new cover on this thing for the re-release.

Currently Writing/Submitting:

Still trying to find a home for my dark fantasy novella, Reflections of Ice. To be fair, I’m also just still waiting on responses from submissions.

On the Iron Legacy front, I’m trying to find an agent, so cross your fingers and toes for me.

Apart from that, my plan is to finish writing Night Awakens and then launch into more Airship stuff. It might be another romance novella set in the same universe like Stolen Petals, or it might be the third book, that’ll depend on what I’m jiving with when the time comes. Either way, after that, of course I’ll begin working on the third book.

Questions, comments, suggestions? What’s everyone most excited for this year?
