Snow Queen meets Bluebeard in this chilling fairy tale….

Lyra plunges into the woods for refuge, leaving the discovery of her stepmother’s affair and the woman’s ensuing rage back at the trailer park. However, a mysterious ringing in the forest leads her to a different sort of sanctuary, a castle of ice with a lonely prince living in his solitary kingdom.

While the castle holds haunting ballrooms, vast gardens, and rooms filled with more treasures than a museum, the cobwebs in dark corners whisper a different story. The longer she stays, the more she yearns to return to her rusty old home. Yet once she uncovers the secret of the ice prince in his castle, if she doesn’t find a way to escape soon, she never will.

Weekly Word Count #139

Word Count: 11,300

What story I’m currently working on:

So, my pace finally slowed, but that’s because I had an event from Friday to Sunday and couldn’t write for 3 days. I hit 44k with the Wanderers story, and I’m hoping to cram in some more today through Sunday to get to 50k by Monday. I’ll be back to chugging away at a faster than average pace, because this story is still flowing out of me just as strong. These characters just CLICK in a perfect way. However, I also finished the Take to the Skies short this week, rounding out at 7k, so, yay! Winning!

What I’m editing/marketing:I got my first edits for Of Tinkers and Technomancers in! I am so excited! Soon, we’ll be entering into line edits on both A Reflection of Ice and Of Tinkers and Technomancers, which is all sorts of yay. Still living the waiting life on all of my submissions, and I’ve been refreshing my email like a beast. My one beta finished reading and critiquing The Airship Also Rises, and the other is almost done, so I’ll be editing that soon, and I’ve also got to dive into edits for the Take to the Skies short so I can get it to my editor ASAP.

Teaser of the week:

Wistful notes spoke of loneliness, as solitary as the final birdsong of autumn or the trill of summer_s last cicada before the wintry freeze.

Line of the week:

Cole buzzed with adrenaline, stuck at the top of the coaster and waiting for the descent. Riley’s familiar scent, that dark amber of his aftershave, made his chest ache so hard he could barely breathe.
